SPORT EVENTS

I'd like to talk about the sport meeting held in our school. Our school holds sports meetings once a
year, and it is one of the most important events for us. The sports meeting usually lasts for two days.
The students participating in the event will keep training for several months in advance.

There are many races and matches on the sports meeting such as relay races and basketball
matches. A month ahead of the sports meeting, I was informed to take part in the 1500-meter-race.
It was the first time that I had participated in such kind of sports event and I am not so good at long-
distance running, so I was really nervous and anxious about my performance in the race. But I was
determined to do well, and I told myself that I must at least finish the race. During those two weeks,
our monitor accompanied me to run around our playground every morning and evening. On the big
day, I had made good preparations for it at least mentally. But it was still a challenge for me and I
was the last one to reach the finishing line.

This experience had a great influence on me: it aroused my interest in sports and I spend more time
doing exercise now

Life is difficult and often people are to experience some sort of trouble. I also had to face trouble
when I was unable to remember the lines I read in books against a particular question.

In last December, I had to appear in the year final exam of my college third year and it was difficult
for me to cross the barriers as the questions were too hard to answer. The exam was about
literature and I had to answer some critical questions about the history of English literature. The
questions were about the writing style, plots, relation with the past history of the modern days and
more other issues. Surprisingly, almost all the questions were not beyond the prescribed course
outline and it caused great trouble to all of us; especially I was one of the worst sufferers. The
course was titled - American and Britan Literature- The course materials were available to me but I
had no idea about what to study. So, it was difficult for me to decide what to do and how to do, and
I was greatly troubled in the exam hall. Before getting to the exam, everything was uncertain to me
that if I would be able to appear on the exam or not. After few moments I felt better. But I was
shocked at the questions paper and gazed at that for about five minutes, silently. Then I started
writing the answers. There were texts about the literary pieces in middle age while we also had to
read the literary pieces of the modern age.

Finally, the exam was over and I submitted the paper answer. I was unable to answer all the
questions; especially I left two short questions unanswered for my ignorance over the texts. The
feelings about the exam are worst. I had no preparations at all. I thought that I might not pass the
exam and even if I do, my score will be lower than others. But in reality, the scenario was different. I
passed the course with a reasonable score and it appeared unbelievable to me.
