Mooltan View Cafe

Multan has been the center of the Indus Valley Civilization. Multan was built by Kashep Puri almost 5000 years ago. It was destroyed
by Alexander when the Mali people were living in Multan. It was named "Mooltan" after the Mali people. Later, it was conquered by
Durani's and Sikh's. The Sikh regiment was taken by British colonial in 1849. After a deadly war between Sikhs and Britain, Multan was
badly wrecked by the attack. Colonials ruled the subcontinent for almost 100 years.

Their rule ended as the sub-continent partition was held in 1947. Today Multan is situated in the province of Punjab Pakistan. It is the
largest city in South Punjab and the seventh-largest city in Pakistan.

Mooltan View Cafe project revolves around the idea of uplifting a dysfunctional space for the public. Our site is a landmark structure
built by Britain during colonial times. It is a huge water tank adjacent to the Tomb of Hazrat Shah Rukn-e -Alam at Multan fortress. It
is at the height of 137' feet.

The capacity of the storage of the tank is almost four million gallons. It was built in the late 19th century and it served the needs of
the people of the city for almost 87 years. But later, it got dysfunctional due to leakage problem and the authorities didn't pay any
attention to it. Currently, the structure is notin function. Different district governments have proposed to dismantle it down. The size
of the structure is 132' feet in width and 68' feet in depth. While the total height of the structure is 137' feet. The structure is in a very
sound condition and can be utilized.

We have proposed to convert the water tank into a cafe. And our focus is to minimally intervene it into the original structure by adding
some insulations, elevators, some furniture, and a kitchen. The theme and the materials used to uplift the space are organic and raw.
The layout outside the restaurant consists of a reception area, lounge waiting for ,a kitchen, a restroom for faculty, and an open floor
dining with two levels. The two levels are designed for the visitors to enjoy a magical outside view by sitting anywhere in the dining
area. The outside area is designed to enjoy the view in evening. Also The sitting arrangment of the cafe are design according to the
current Covid-19 instructions.

This idea is peculiar for citizens and tourists. Mooltan View Cafe allows you to experience the holistic view of Shah Rukn-e-Alam Tomb,
Bahauddin Zakariya Tomb, and the clock tower along the sublime skyline of Multan.
