What is Good Writing?

Good pieces of writing are distinct and connect with readers about a topic

that causes them to lose track of time.

Organization. Good writers are able to clearly arrange their work to best

connect with readers and to deliver the overall message, story, or idea.

Objective. Good writing always has a clear objective in mind that gets a point

across to the reader.

Detailed. A good piece of writing understands the balance between fitting in

important, key details while not making it too cluttered and hard to follow.

Writing is a process. It takes a long time to write a novel and story, but an

even longer process to come up with an idea.

Rhetorical Device. Readers are invited into topics or persuaded to read more

about the main message through the use of rhetorical devices.

In writing, author’s tend to lose themselves. They generate thought

afterthought until a book, novel, poem, or story is written. Good writers are
capable of taking what seems to be a boring topic, and turning it into an

interesting one.

Therapeutic. When readers forget all about their outside lives and are fully

invested in the piece of writing that they are reading, it is considered Good

Writing.

Ideas. Good writers use ideas that are interesting and meaningful so readers

can be informed.

Necessary. Good writing is necessary in life. In order to grow as an

individual, one must learn how to write stories that deliver a message so

meaningful that it leaves readers thinking about the piece of work for a long

time.

Grammar. Good Writing maintains an appropriate use of grammar throughout

the writing to help get the main point across in an efficient way.
