of my room and optimize the process in which I change my clothes

1.2 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

1.2.1 Contextualizing the problem
1.2.2 Determining the variable to intervene to improve the process
1.2.3 Proposing an improvement that solves the problem
1.2.4 Simulating the proposed improvement
1.2.5 Carry out a design of experiments to validate the improvements applied
2. DESCRIPCION DEL PROBLEMA

My residence is located in the municipality of Momil in the department of Cordoba, has

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen, 1 living room and an area of work, one of the
bedrooms said above is shared by my brother and I, which has a dimension of 2.80
meters wide and 3.20 meters long, is furnished with two beds with dimensions of 1
meter wide and 1.90 meters long, a TV, ceiling fan, a night table and a closet attached to
the wall.

The problem is that the beds are attached to the closet doors as shown in the image
below

Therefore, when changing clothes after bathing, it is time to roll the beds forward, open
the closet doors, change, close the closet doors and roll the beds back into place. This
makes me take longer to change my clothes, uncomfortable when rolling the beds and
even more so if the other bed is a resting one, I have to wake it up to open the closet.

Therefore, an improvement should be considered, that reduces the time of the process in
which I change my clothes. Below are the times obtained.

10,800 seconds is equivalent to 3 hours, since within 12 hours (9 am to 9 pm) I change

three times.

First, we verify that we have no outliers by means of the box-mustache diagram

As we can see, there are no outliers, so we proceed to perform a goodness-of-fit test to
find out which probability distribution the data fit

As you can see, the data is adjusted to a log-normal distribution with 100% acceptance
at an average of 282 seconds, and standard deviation 57.8 seconds.

We proceed to simulate in the promodel software

3. IMPROVEMENT ALTERNATIVE

The alternative to propose has to do with the floor plan, which consists of arranging the
beds horizontally in the bedroom, to leave a free space between the beds and the closet
in order to minimize the time of the process in which I change my clothes.

Having said that, we can eliminate the time it took me to roll the bed, since, with the
alternative of improvement proposed, there is no need to be rolling the beds, therefore,
our times would be as follows.

A goodness-of-fit test is again performed to find out which probability distribution the
data fit

As you can see, the data is adjusted to a log-normal distribution with 100% acceptance
with average 274 seconds, and standard deviation 57.3 seconds.
DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS
 We use the following instruments for timekeeping:
 Timer
 Paper
 Pencil
 To carry out the experiment we will use the PROMODEL software,
we will simulate 12 hours (from 9am to 9pm) with 10 replicates for
each sample.
 The variable to be studied is the time variable of the clothing change
process
 We will perform one (1) hypothesis test, for the comparison of means
of the process in which I change clothes from the initial simulation
and the simulation of the improvement alternative

The simulation of the improvement alternative is carried out

As you can see there is statistical evidence to say that the implemented improvement is
significant, therefore H0 is rejected.
CONCLUSIONES
 It can be concluded that the redistribution of plant applied to my bedroom
reduced the time of the process in which I change my clothes, besides that, it
saves me the discomfort of rolling beds.
 I would like to thank my tutor, because thanks to this work I was able to put into
practice a great part of the knowledge acquired throughout my career in
industrial engineering
