Chapter 1, Quick Start Describes the basic operation flow of the EMS system, how
to start the EMS server, and how to log in to the EMS system .
Chapter 5, Traffic Analysis Describes how to check the interface traffic report and the
NE traffic report.
Conventions
This manual uses the following conventions.

To use the EMS system, you must start the EMS server first.
2. Log in to the EMS system.
To perform related management operations, you must log in the EMS system.
3. Management operations.
l Topology management

In the topology management view, you can view and show network resources,
physical topology, and link topology.
l IP device management
With this function, you can manage resources, configure devices, and manage
the device software of an NE.
l Single NE view management
In the single NE view, you can manage resources, configurations, tools, and virtual
value-added services.
l Traffic analysis
Prerequisite
The EMS server software is installed successfully.
Steps
1. On the Windows system, select Start > All Programs > ICT Management System >
ICT Console.
When all processes in the ICT Console page are started successfully, it means that
the EMS server is started successfully, see Figure 1-2.

Note:
l Processes displayed in the page vary with the product components selected
during the installation. You use the processes displayed in the ICT Console
page as the standard.
l The EMS system automatically starts all processes, so you do not need to
manually start them one by one.
l The control console start file (console.exe) of the EMS system is saved in the
installation directory (ums-server) of the EMS system.

Prerequisite
The EMS server operates properly.

After the new version of the EMS of is installed, the historic records of the browser must
be cleared to avoid affecting the system buffer.
Steps
1. Open a browser, and enter the URL of the NetNumen U31(ICT) R22 system in the
address bar, for example, http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:21180. XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
indicates the IP address or domain name of the EMS server. The login page is
displayed.

Note:
On the NetNumen U31(ICT) R22 system, the initial user name is admin and the initial
password is blank. After you log in for the first time, you must modify your password
as soon as possible.

Steps
1. On the home page of the EMS system, select Monitor > Topology > Physical
Topology. The Physical Topology page is displayed.
2. Select an NE, click the icon next to the NE, and then select Open Rack Chart from
the displayed shortcut menu. The Rack Chart page is displayed, see Figure 2-1.

l Click to refresh the rack chart to view the real-time status of the rack chart.

1. On the home page of the EMS, select Monitor > Topology > Physical Topology.
The Physical Topology page is displayed.
2. In the topology as shown in Figure 2-3, select an NE, and right-click next to the NE.
Select Detection Tool from the shortcut menu.

Parameter Description
The Management Channel Ping page shows the ping result of the management
channel.
Click Execute to ping the management channel again.
This function checks whether the SNMP, CLI, and multiuser configurations of an
NE are correct.
Click Management Channel Detection. The Management Channel Detection
page is displayed.
Click Execute. The system starts to check the NE management channel, see
Figure 2-4. When Detect Status shows Done, check the NE management status.

Enable indicates a normal status. Red Disable shows an abnormal status, see
Table 2-3.

A single NE view involves the resource management, configuration management, and tool
management of a single NE, which facilitates the NE management.
Steps
1. On the home page of the EMS system, selectMonitor > Topology > Physical
Topology. The Physical Topology page is displayed.
2. Select an NE, click the icon next to the NE, and then select Single NE View from
the displayed shortcut menu. The Single NE View page is displayed, see Figure 2-5.

1. On the home page of the EMS system, select Physical Device > IP Device
Management > Portal. The Portal page is displayed.
2. Click Setting. The Statistics Setting dialog box is displayed, see Figure 3-1.

Steps
1. On the home page of the EMS, select Physical Device > IP Device Management >
Resource > NE. The NE page is displayed.
2. To create basic information of an NE, perform the following operations:
a. Click the Create button. The Create page is displayed.
b. Set the basic attribute of an NE. For a description of the parameters, refer to Table
3-2.
Parameter Description
NE Type If you do not set the NE type while creating an NE, the NetNumen
U31(ICT) R22 system automatically identifies the NE type after the
NE is created successfully. If the system fails to identify the NE
type, the NE Type parameter is set to unknown Type.
c. Click the SNMP Information tab and set the parameters by referring to Table
3-3. The parameter setting must be consistent with the that configured for the NE
device.

d. Click the CLI Information tab. Select the mode for logging in to the NE device
remotely, and set the CLI parameters for the NE.
SSH and Telnet means to remotely log in the NE device by SSH or Telnet.
e. Click the Other Information tab, and then set the Loopback parameter. You must
ensure that the loopback address of the NE is the router ID of the LDP.
f. Click the OK button. A message box that displays "Create Success" is displayed.
g. Click the OK button to close the message box.
3. To modify information about an NE, perform the following operations:

a. Select a record, and then click the Modify button. The Modify page is displayed.
b. Modify basic information, SNMP information, CLI information, and other
information for the NE.
c. Click the OK button. A message box that displays "Modify Success" is displayed.
d. Click the OK button to close the message box.
4. To delete the NE information, perform the following operations:
a. Select one or multiple NE records. Click Delete. The Delete page is displayed.
b. Select a deletion type: delete from the all groups or delete from the current
group.
c. Click OK.
5. To query the NE information, perform the following operations:
a. Click Search. The query page is displayed, see Figure 3-2.
b. Click the Display Name field of the corresponding NE, see Figure 3-4. The Single
NE View page is displayed.

c. On the Single NE View page, view the information about the NE, such as the rack
chart, alarm monitoring, and performance detection.
For how to display a single NE page, refer to Chapter 4 Single NE View
Management.
7. To export NE information, perform the following operations:
Click Export and then select the file type from the drop-down list to save the file locally.
8. To import NEs in batches, perform the following operations:
a. Click the Import button. The Import page is displayed (using Importing by key
parameters as an example).
l Importing by all parameters: A file that includes all parameters of NEs is
used as the importing source. You can obtain the data through the Export
function.
l Importing by key parameters: A file that includes key parameters of NEs is
used as the importing source. You can obtain the data through the To save
template function.
b. Click To save template to save the template locally.
c. Open the Excel template file, and enter key parameters with the specified format.
The IP address and NE type are mandatory parameters.
Note:
IP Address and Net Mask area mandatory parameters. If these two parameters
are not set, the system does not import the data in this line to the EMS system
because it considers that the data in this line is illegal.
It is recommended to set the Telnet Username, Telnet Password, SNMP
Community, and SNMP Write Community parameters at the same time. The
values of these four parameters are entered based on the actual configuration
of the device.

g. Click the Import button to import the NE to the U31 (ICT) R22 EMS system.
When the progress reaches 100% and Status is Success, it means that the NE
is imported successfully.
h. Click the Close button to close the Import page.
9. To customize an NE name, perform the following operations:
a. Select the information of an NE and click Custom Name. The Custom Name
page is displayed, see Figure 3-5.
b. Set the parameters and click Execute. The NE name is modified successfully.
10. To modify information about NEs in batches, perform the following operations:
a. Select multiple records, and click More, and then select Batch Modify from the
drop-down list. The Batch Modify page is displayed.
b. Modify SNMP information and CLIC information for NEs in batches.
c. Click the OK button. A message box that displays "Modify Success" is displayed.
d. Click the OK button to close the message box.
11. To configure SNMP V3 users in batches, perform the following operations:
a. Select one or more records, and click More, and then select SNMP V3 from the
drop-down list. The SNMP V3 Batch Create User Information page is displayed.
b. Set the parameters by referring to Table 3-3. The parameter setting must be
consistent with that configured for the NE device.

1. On the home page of the EMS system, select Physical Device > IP Device
Management > Resource > Interface. The Resource page is displayed, see Figure
3-6.

Click Export and then select the file type from the drop-down list to save the file locally.
5. To view the interface information, perform the following operations:
a. Click Search. The Search page is displayed, see Figure 3-8.

1. On the home page of the EMS, select Physical Device > IP Device Management >
Resource > Optical. The Optical page is displayed, see Figure 3-9.
2. To query the detailed information on the optical module, perform the following
operations:
a. Click . The page expands to show the detailed information on the optical
module, see Figure 3-10.

1. On the home page of the EMS, select Physical Device > IP Device Management >
Resource > Link. The Link page is displayed, see Figure 3-13.
Parameter Description
Link Type The supported link types include 40G Ethernet link, 100M
Ethernet link, 1000M Ethernet link, 10000M Ethernet link,
100000M Ethernet link, 155M POS link, 622M POS link, 2.5G
POS link, 10G POS link, E1 link, Ethernet trunk link, E1 multiple
link, logical link, IP_AN link, IP_NGN link and IP_IT Server Link.
IP_AN link and IP_NGN link are the links between the IP network
management system and other dedicated network management
systems. IP_IT Server link is the link between the IP network
management system and servers.

f. Click the Import button to import link information to the U31 (ICT) R22 NM system.
When the progress reaches 100%, it means that the link is imported successfully,
see Figure 3-16.

Management > Resource > Rack. The Rack page is displayed, see Figure 3-17.

Backing up Configuration Files of NEs
2. Select one or more NEs to be backed up, and then click Backup. The Create Back-up
Configure File Task message box is displayed, see Figure 3-31.
3. (Optional) Click More. The Create Back-up configure File Task page is displayed,
see Figure 3-32. On the page, you can set the management manner and customize
the task scheduling time.

Restarting an NE
10. Select one or more NEs to be restarted, and then click Reboot. The Reboot NE page
is displayed.
11. Set the Timer Task Settings parameter. There are three options, Run now task,
Scheduled task, and Periodic task.
12. Click OK. The Confirm dialog box that displays "Confirm to reboot the system of these
NEs?" is displayed.
13. Click the OK button. A message box that displays "Create Success" is displayed.
14. Click the OK button to close the message box.
After that, you can view the task status and operation result by referring to 3.3.2
Managing Configured Operation Tasks.

1. On the home page of the EMS system, select Physical Device > IP Device
Management > Device Configuration > Task. The Task page is displayed.
2. Click the Refresh button to view the last operation result, task status, and task category
of an operation task, see Figure 3-34.
3. Select one or more tasks, and then click Run to operate the tasks immediately.
4. Select one or more tasks, and then click Delete to delete the tasks immediately.

2. Download Configuration Files from the Configuration File Database Locally.
a. Select one or more files, and then click Download. The Download File page is
displayed.
b. Click OK. The files are downloaded locally.
3. Uploading Local Configuration Files to the Configuration File Database.
a. Click Upload. The Upload File page is displayed.
b. Select an NE and the corresponding configuration files to be uploaded, see Figure
3-35.

c. After the parameter setting, click Upload. A message box that displays "Upload
file successful" is displayed.
d. Click OK to close the message box.
e. Click Refresh to view the uploaded configuration files, see Figure 3-36.

Backing up the Device Software
1. On the home page of the EMS system, select Physical Device > IP Device
Management > Device Software. The Device Software page is displayed.
2. Select one or more NEs to be backed up, and then click Backup. The Create Back-up
Device Software Task message box is displayed, see Figure 3-37.

3. (Optional) Click More. The Create Back-up Device Software Task page is displayed,
see Figure 3-38. On the page, you can set the management manner and customize

Upgrading the Device Software
6. Select an NE and then click Restore. The Create Deploy Device Software Task
page is displayed.
Note:
If multiple NEs are selected for upgrade in batches, the selected NEs must be of the
same series. Otherwise, the upgrade operation cannot be implemented.

Restarting Devices
10. Select one or more NEs to be restarted, and then click Reboot. The Reboot NE page

11. Set the Timer Task Settings parameter. There are three options, Run now task,
Scheduled task, and Periodic task.
12. Click OK. The Confirm dialog box that displays "Confirm to reboot the system of these
NEs?" is displayed.
13. Click the OK button. A message box that displays "Create Success" is displayed.
14. Click the OK button to close the message box.
After the task is created successfully, you can view the task status and operation result
by referring to 3.4.2 Managing Software Operation Tasks.

1. On the home page of the EMS system, select IP Device Management. The IP Device
Management page is displayed. Select IP Device Management > Device Software
> Task. The Task page is displayed.

The device software of the corresponding NE is displayed on the page.
b. Click OK. The files are downloaded locally.
3. Uploading the Local Device Software to the Device Software Database.
a. Click Upload. The Upload File page is displayed.
b. Select an NE and the corresponding device software to be uploaded, and then set
the Platform Version and Project Version parameters, see Figure 3-41.
c. After the parameter setting, click Upload. A message box that displays "Upload
file successful" is displayed.
d. Click OK to close the message box.
e. Click Refresh to view the uploaded device software from the current file list, see
Figure 3-42.

Select one or more device software, and then click Delete to delete the device software
from the device software database.

1. On the home page of the EMS system, select Physical Device > IP Device
Management > Smart Configuration. The Smart Configuration page is displayed.
2. Click Templates. The Templates page is displayed.
3. Click Create Sort. The Create page is displayed.
4. Set the Sort Name parameter, and then click OK. A template class is created, see
Figure 3-43.
By default, the system creates the Sort of Basic Configuration template class. This
template class cannot be modified or deleted.

Click a template class, such as test, to view common templates in the template class, see
Figure 3-44.

l To create a common template, click Create. For details, refer to 3.5.3 Creating a
Common Template.
l To create a task, click Create Task next to a created template. For details, refer to
3.5.4 Creating a Task.
l To import a template file in .xml format, click Import. The importing operation fails if
the same template file exists on the U31 (ICT) R22 system, and only one template file
can be imported at the same time.
l To export a template locally, select the template and then click Export.
Steps
1. On the home page of the EMS system, select Physical Device > IP Device
Management > Smart Configuration. The Smart Configuration page is displayed.
2. Click Create Template. The Create Template page is displayed.
3. Set the Template Name, Sort of Template, Ne Type, Ne Version, and Description
parameters, see Figure 3-45.

4. Click Next. The Input Script page is displayed. Enter scripts in the Script text box,
see Figure 3-46.
5. Click Next. The Edit Parameters page is displayed, see Figure 3-47.

a. (Optional) Double-click the Delay Time(ms) and Mark fields of each script to set
these two parameters for each script.
b. (Optional) In the Script Parameters area, click the Parameter Name field of a
script, such as IP Address, to set the Minimum, Maximum, Enum items for this
parameter on the displayed page.
6. Click Finish. The template is created, see Figure 3-48.
l If the Collect filed of a template is , it means that the template is not collected.
When you click , the icon is changed to .
l If the Collect filed of a template is , it means that the template is already
collected. When you click , the icon is changed to .

Related Tasks
On the page shown in Figure 3-48, you can perform the following operations:
l To continue creating a template, click Create.
l To create a task, click Create Task next to a created template. For details, refer to
3.5.4 Creating a Task.
l To import a template file in .xml format, click Import. The importing operation fails if
the same template file exists on the U31 (ICT) R22 system, and only one template file
can be imported at the same time.
l To export a template locally, select the template and then click Export.
Prerequisite
The system has a general template.
Steps
1. On the home page of the EMS system, select Physical Device > IP Device
Management > Smart Configuration. The Smart Configuration page is displayed.
4. Select a template that requires creating a task, and then click Next. The Set
Parameter page is displayed.
5. Set the Task Name and Select Ne parameters.
6. After the parameter setting, click Next. The following page is displayed, see Figure
3-49.

7. Click the column where the IP Address and Mask are located, and enter the
corresponding parameters.
8. Set the Timer Task Settings parameter to Run now task, Scheduled task, Periodic
task, or Manual execution task, and then click Finish. The task is created, see
Figure 3-50.
9. Click a task in the Task Name field. The Task List page that displays the operation of
each sub-task is displayed, see Figure 3-51.
For operations on the Task List page, refer to 3.5.5 Browsing a Task.

Related Task
On Sub-Task List the page, you can perform the following operations:
l Select a task and click Run. The task is re-executed.
l Select a task and click Paused. The task status is changed to Paused. The task
stops.
l Select a task and click Download Run Result to download the task operation results
to the local PC.
l Click Modify on the line where the subtask is located, and modify the task.

l Parent Group: Select the upper-layer organization of the new group.

A location or site can be established under a location, while a layer can be
mounted to a site. AP settings can be only mounted to the layer of a site or to

4. Select a site in the left navigation tree, and click Bind AP. The AP Resource page is
displayed.
On the AP Resource page, unbound AP resources are displayed.The information is
from the AP resource information in WLAN Management > Resource Management
> AP Resource page.
5. Select an AP resource and click ok.
6. Select the bound AP resource, and click Unbind AP to unbind the NE.
7. (Optional) Select a site in the left navigation tree, and click Add Virtual AP. The Add
Virtual AP dialog box is displayed, see Figure 7-18.
