Alarm and Notification
Reference Overview
An alarm is a message raised during the system operation to indicate a fault or a
notification. Maintenance engineers can handle alarms accordingly.
Notifications prompt transient events that occur during system operation. Such events
cannot be restored.
This manual provides a detailed description for each alarm based on the system type,
possible causes, and recommended actions.
The system type provides information on the location where an alarm/notification is raised
and is classified as follows:
l IP EMS alarm/notification
l Hardware alarm/notification
l Connectivity alarm/notification
l Equipment performance alarm/notification
l Power environment alarm/notification
l Security alarm/notification
l Device system alarm/notification
l Data configuration alarm/notification
l Service performance alarm/notification
l Bill alarm/notification
l VPN alarm/notification
Each alarm/notification has a corresponding system type code, alarm/notification
code, and cause code. Maintenance engineers can search for alarm/notifications by
alarm/notification code. The following defines the system type code, alarm/notification
code, and cause code.
l System type code
A system type code is the unique identifier of a system type. For example, 3301 is
the system type code of hardware alarms.
System type code is classified as follows:
à 880: IP EMS alarm/notification

à 3301~3310: Middle or high-end equipment alarm/notification
à 3601~3608: Low-end equipment alarm/notification

alarm/notification code and a system type code together uniquely identify an
alarm/notification in the system.
l Cause code
Cause code is the identifier of an alarm/notification cause and uniquely identifies the
