The Alcatel 7340 fiber to the user (FTTU)
solution is a full service access network
(FSAN) standards-compliant fiber access
solution for homes and businesses. The
Alcatel 7340 Packet Optical Line Terminal
(P-OLT) is a key component of the FTTU
platform. The FTTU platform provides
scalable bandwidth using passive optical
network (PON) technology for video, voice
and high-speed data services. Services are
delivered using a single fiber with three
wavelengths multiplexed together — two
for downstream and upstream transport
and one dedicated wavelength for down-
stream video. Capitalizing on Alcatel’s
leadership in wireline broadband access
technology, the FTTU platform enables
service providers to cost-effectively deliver
high-revenue, next-generation broadband
services today, over a single optical fiber.
The scalability of the Alcatel 7340 P-OLT
makes it ideal for initial network rollout
and widespread deployment.
The Alcatel FTTU product line includes
a suite of optical network terminals
(ONTs) suitable for various types of
customers. The Alcatel 7340 P-OLT
provides aggregation and switching
functionality between the core network
and PON interfaces. It seamlessly
terminates all PON interfaces for homes
(H-ONT), multiple dwelling or tenant
units (M-ONT) and businesses
(B-ONT). The 7340 P-OLT Release 2.6
features scalable data throughput capacity
unmatched by its competitors. It can
aggregate and groom traffic using ATM
STM-1, STM-4 and Gigabit Ethernet (GigE).
It can be housed in a central office (CO),
in any network hub site or in outside
plant cabinets.
