Title:The fire safety measures of informal settlers in Barangay

Niog 1 bacoor Cavite

Background:

Fire incidents always occur unexpectedly, and fire incidents

in informal settlements can spread quickly due to the close

proximity of neighboring houses, causing serious damage to

the lives and property of the residents if not quickly

recognized.

Fires cause over 130,000 deaths.globally per year. This is

more than double the annual average number of deaths

caused by natural disasters.In 2016, approximately one

fifth of the world’s population lived in low/low-middle SDI

countries. However, almost half of the world’s deaths due

to fire occur in these countries.(Lane,Silva2018)

Objectives: This Study aims to prevent the big fire and lessen

the grave damages by the fire in informal settlements by

helping them with their fire safety measures. Informing the

people when engaging in a fire providing a suitable escape


when a big fire occurs and providing assistance to the people

who need help in evacuation.

Research Paradigm:

Input - This study aims to answer the

following questions:

How did the informal settlers cope

with the fire incident experiences?

Why do informal settlers need to be

educated on fire safety precautions

and practices?

What will be the alternative planning

in implementing fire safety to

informal settlers?

Process-The researcher will


create a formal interview
questionnaire.
Output: Identified the
alternative and lacks of
informal settlers when
engaging and escaping in a
fire.

Expected Outcome: This


study helps the other informal
settlers and proposing a new
program to the barangay that
will benefit to the informal
settlers when comes to a fire
safety measures

Methodology: This Study will use Qualitative methods that

involve collecting and analyzing non-numerical data to

understand concepts, opinions, or experiences.


Research Design: Descriptive Method

Participants: The participants of this study are the informal


settlers

Instrument/s: The researcher will create a formal interview

and questionnaire with close ended questions.

Data Gathering Procedure: The Researcher will provide a letter

to conduct an intended to campus administrator through the

recommending approval of thesis adviser. The Research will

explain the study to the participants and the benefits to them.

The formal interview will be conducted and the questionnaire

will be distributed. The information that they acquire will be

used to benefit the fire measures of informal settlers.

Data/Statistical Analysis: After conducting a formal interview

and the questionnaire to the participants the information

acquired will be used to benefit the participants to improve

the fire safety measures of informal settlers.

Tools for Gathering Data: The tool is the survey questionnaire

that has close-ended questions and formal interview the

interview will conducted with safety precautions.

Description of the research and your participation

The Study focuses on the informal settlers who are prone to the fire due

the congested housing. The study aims to help the informal settlers to provide

alternative fire safety measures and conduct a proposal program to benefit the

informal settlers.

Participants: The participants of this study are the Informal settlers

Risks and discomforts: Due to the pandemic the availability of the safety of

research and participants are risky, to provide a formal interview to conduct

the data the research and participants shall possess a face mask and face

shield.

Potential benefits: During Pandemic the fire incident occurs in some informal settlement areas and

it causes grave damages. This study will help to lessen the fire incident during quarantine time or

not because the program or alternatives safety measures will help the informal settlers to prevent

the fire and lessen the mass destruction.


Utilization of the Results of this study: This can use to the other barangay who has informal

settlers and can use by the other researcher

Protection of confidentiality: All the information gathered will be given to the public officials and

professionals.

Voluntary participation: The researcher will assure that all participants interviewed and given by

questionnaire are not forced to give their sight and opinion.
