MECHANICS OF THE CONTEST

A. ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

Participation and Eligibility


1. Students currently enrolled officially in the program Bachelor of Science in
Criminology are eligible to participate in the competition.
2. All Criminology students are encouraged to participate. However, each
section on all year level must have at least one participant to represent their
section.

Judges
1. The host shall invite three (3) prominent and reputable experts in the fields of
creative writing to act as judges of the competition. Afterwards, the three (3)
Judges invited will elect among themselves on whom will act as the chairman.
2. The Board of Judges shall rule on all matters appertaining to the contest.
Their decisions shall be considered final.

Criteria for Judging


The essay shall be judged based on the following criteria:
Grammar Construction and Style - 40 %
Relevance - 30 %

Structure and Composition - 15 %
Exceptional Use of Words - 15 %

Mechanics for Judging:


1. Each contestant shall be given 72 hours (3 days) from launching of the virtual
competition to finish his/her entry. There shall be no extension. Failure to
submit within the prescribed time shall be a ground for disqualification.
2. Contestants must not use any identifying materials to identify their year and
section. Contestant number will be issued further. Each participant may send
a photograph converted in a PDF file of their entry via messenger or email (to
be provided by the host). The following ranking for winners shall be applied:
2.1 Champion
2.2 1st Runner-up
2.3 2nd Runner-up
3. Each judge will be given ample time to read and rate each entry.
4. Each Judge will be provided with score sheets which reflects the theme of
each contestant and the criteria for judging;
5. The rating of each judge will be tabulated by the official tabulators to get the
average rating of each contestant;
6. In case of tie, the panel of judges must vote to break the tie;

B. POSITION PAPER

C. POSTER MAKING

Participation and Eligibility

Criteria for Judging

The posters will be judged according to the following criteria:


1. CREATIVITY AND PRESENTATION (30%)
1.1. Experiment with color -  Use and pair colors
1.2. Showing great imagination
1.3. Attractive in terms of neatness and well-constructed
2. ORIGINALITY (30%)
2.1. Uniqueness
2.2. Exceptional use of new/fresh ideas
3. RELEVANCE TO THE TOPIC (30%).
3.1. Shows good understanding of the concept
3.2. Makes sense and easy to understand
4. WOW Reaction - 10%

MECHANICS

1. Posters must be done in free hand and be officially submitted and will be
posted in the Facebook page CVSU Bacoor Criminology EST 2013. Pastel
colors, water color, color pens and pencils or any other coloring material are
allowed. The poster shall be raw and natural, usage of any enhancements in
taking a picture of the poster is not allowed such as filters, etc.
2. The participants will be given 5 days from launching of the virtual competition
to accomplish his/her entry. After the lapse of 5 days scheduled for the
submission, entries will be immediately posted on the Official Facebook page for
a duration of 3 days. After the lapse of 3 days, wow reactions garnered by the
entries will be immediately tallied by the committee.
3. The artist will be held accountable to any issues that may arise with regards to
the originality and authenticity of the design.
4. Each participant should submit ONE entry only.
5. A system shall be used for the awarding of points of each entry wherein
ONLY A “WOW” REACT SHALL BE COUNTED and every “WOW” is equal
to one (1) point only.
6. Any machinations discovered by the juries on an entry shall lead to its
disqualification from the contest.

Topic:
The poster must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme "End Terrorism;
Say Yes for a Brighter Future and Peaceful Philippines".

D. 24 Bars Challenge

Criminology EST 2013.
2. The participants will be given 5 days from launching of the virtual competition to
accomplish his/her entry. After the lapse of 5 days scheduled for the submission,
entries will be immediately posted on the Official Facebook page for a duration of 3
days. After the lapse of 3 days, wow reactions garnered by the entries will be
immediately tallied by the committee.
