Diaphragm-/Piston pressure switch, type: DWS-...

Installation and commissioning must be carried out in accordance with these operating
instructions and by authorized, qualified personnel only.

Usage:
This switch can be used in areas vulnerable to explosions in accordance with. It carries
the European Union’s construction sample certificate DMT 02 ATEX E 019. It is labeled
(Ex) I M2 Ex ia I.
It can be used for the surveillance of high-pressure non-flammable liquids, gases or
steams.

Function:
The pressure switch will open or close an electrical circuit at an adjustable pressure level.
When the pressure rises a membrane repectively a piston is being moved. The amount of
movement depends on the pressure level and an adjustable spring force. A microswitch is
being activatet at the adjustable level and will open or close the electrical circuit.

The pressure switch monitors the selected pressure level!

Preconditions for product usage:

The following general instructions are to be observed at all times to ensure the correct and safe
use of the pressure switch:

• Never exceed the physical and electrical conditions the switch is certified for!
• Mind the surrounding conditions (temperature, air pressure, humidity, etc.)
• Follow the applicable safety regulations of regulatory bodies in the country of use.
• Always follow the warnings and instructions in these operating instrucions.
• Never exploit the pressure switch to high forces or vibrations.
• Use the product only in ist original state. Never modify the product.
• Remove all transport packaging like plastic, caps and cardboard prior to usage.

Physical conditions:

The switch is certified for usage within a temperature range of -20 to +80°C.

• Extreme temperature conditions can cause a large difference of the adjustable switch
pressure and may even yield into a malfunction.

Protection Class IP 65

The type test is not transferable to all ervironmental conditions without restrictions.

Oxygen Usage:

The pressure switch if not meant for usage with oxygen!

Overpressure Safety:

The technical specifications list the statical overpressure safety. It refers to the hydraulic resp.
pneumatical part of the switch.

Installation:

Mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics:

Install the pressure switch into the pressure plug turning it using a nut driver SW27 at the hex
nut. Do not exceed a torque of 50 Nm!

For sealing the system use a standard gasket or washer ring.

Electrical:

Wire the pressure switch according to the circuit diagram shown above resp. as stated on the data
sheet listed separately.

Commisioning:

1. Wire the electrical circuit according to the switch symbol.

2. Carefully turn the adjustment screw all the way in using a srew driver. Notice that the
adjustment screw only has one Stopp position when turning in.
3. Set the switch under the desired pressure (use a control manometer).
4. Turn the adjustment screw so the that the switch starts switching.
5. Correct the switching point if desired by turning the adjustment screw.
6. If mounting a device outlet make sure that the coding nut fits the coding tap of the
pressure switch. Slide the outlet over the pressure witch until it clicks into position.

Always follow the applicable safety regulations of regulatory bodies when commisioning the
switch!

Removal:

Please observe the following important issues when removing the pressure switch:

• The pressure system which utilizes the pressure switch must be without pressure prior to
removal.
• All relevant safety regulations must be followed.
• Remove the pressure switch by using a nut driver SW 27.

General comments:

If the pressure switch point is factory-adjusted the pressure level is imprinted on the switch itself.
Furthermore a factory-internal type code can be found there.
