Receive and screen complaints and referrals from DFR staff, consumers and
other agencies, including law enforcement
Gather preliminary information and interview source of complaint and
witnesses
Evaluate whether the severity of allegation and probability of successful ad‐
ministrative action and/or prosecution warrant the cost and time of an
investigation
Recommend initiation or continuation of investigation or referral to other agen‐
cies and coordinate with other law enforcement agencies on investigation and
prosecution
Decide when case is complete and ready for submission for administrative ac‐
tion, civil litigation, prosecution and/or other action

Minimum Qualifications:
Four years of recent (within last ten years) full-time investigative experience which included:

Conducting fact finding


Collecting and preserving evidence according to the rules of evidence
Examining records
Locating and interviewing witnesses to verify or disprove claims of suspected
law violations

Writing investigation reports sufficient for use at administrative hearings or in

Examples of qualifying investigation experience are in areas such as law enforcement in‐
vestigation, insurance investigation, investigative trial support, or financial fraud
investigation.

College-level courses in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Law, Accounting, or Auditing


may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to one year of the required experience.

Requested Skills:

Excellent writing and communication skills


Ability to work independently and also work at the direction of another person.
Experience dealing with individuals of varied education and training in multiple
settings and under stressful conditions
Experience concurrently investigating a variety of matters, which may be at dif‐
ferent stages of completion, bringing each to a timely and appropriate
conclusion
Preference may be given to applicants with at least two years of experience in‐
volving securities, financial, or white-collar crime investigation, and/or analyz‐
ing financial records and transactions
