Can a work-at-Home policy hurt Morale.

Q1: What is the problem?


In this case study people are working on library project. The general manager and boss wants to
increase growth of this project. For that they need extra people hired but office is not vacant they
need more space. The remote program is initialized that people must now work from home.
Working from home gives an enormous growth to project. It almost doubled the output. To
qualify for remote program one must be a top performer of a company. Most of employees at
company wants to work remotely from home. Office has been dissolved in two tier system. The
one working from home are feeling lucky and paid with good salaries. Others who work at office
now feel demoralized and low tier officers. There was a chaotic situation in office between
employees, working from home and working inside office. The company was distributed in two
classes which somehow could reduce growth of the project. The company was to become office
less company. Company doesn’t know how these workers complete work with so much
efficiency. There is no connection between its employees and company. Company was deprived
of new techniques to complete the work. Skillful was getting more skills and the one who is less
competent is getting worse reputation. There is no equity in employees. There was less
transparency of rules and criterion inside company.

Q2: To get out of these problems inside company. There must be policy set for rules and
regulations. Proper guidance should be given to employees who wants to work from home that
how they may qualify what must be the proper channel to get this opportunity. There must be
more gatherings and meetings for overall office staff. There must be open screen working from
home to maintain the connection between office employees and employees working from home.
If remote workers doing better job than office workers must know that skill or try to learn it as
well to take office competition to another level. There should be better management to settle
equity between office and remote workers. Management should give rest to office workers for
few days that work should be covered by remote workers.

Q3 learnings:
From this case study we learn that employees should be equally behaved. There must not be any
privileges to any individuals. Management should not let office distributed in two classes. Upper
class and lower class. Attention must not be solely on growth of projects. Management should
comfort employ not to demoralize the officer. With this environment company may not progress
to the tasks. Transparency should be reflected publicly. These distinctions on the basis of
performance must be avoided.
