Sierra LSA Quick Start Guide V1.

QUICK START GUIDE

For those people who don't like to read the manual.

Demo Limitations
The demo has the following limitations. Purchasing the full version will obviously fix these
limitations.
- Does not include RXP version
- Propeller does not rotate
- Only one livery (full version includes 10 liveries)
The demo should provide a good representation of the performance and framerates you would get
from the full version.

Aircraft Selection
After installation start FSX. In the aircraft selection list the aircraft will be listed under Tecnam
P2002 Sierra. Aircraft Manufacturer is Tecnam, Publisher is Ant's Airplanes and Aircraft Type is
Single Engine Prop. Make sure Show all variations is ticked to see all the various paint schemes.
Some variations will have registration numbers that you can change by changing the Tail number
(just like a default FSX aircraft) while some will have fixed registration numbers that are part of the
paint (these are ZK-NPS, Airsport, 24-5239).
Aircraft with a GPS icon in the lower right corner of the thumbnail and with RXP530 in the name
use the RXP model which is designed to allow the RealityXP 530 GPS to be used. Note the
RealityXP 530 is not included in this package and must be purchased separately. Refer to the
manual for more information about the RXP model.

Things you should know

The Tecnam Sierra is a small 2 seat aircraft designed primarily for the light sport class. The engine
is a Rotax 912 that has a maximum rpm of 5800. A 2.4281 gear reduction box reduces the final
prop rpm. The prop is fixed pitch and there is no mixture control. The aircraft is light weight (MTOW
600kg, 272lbs) and has a high power to weight ratio which gives it excellent takeoff and inflight
performance. Cruise speed is 110kts at 5000rpm.
Brakes are applied to both wheels via a lever (there are no toe brakes although in FSX these will
still work).
Flaps are continuously variable. FSX doesn't model this well so in this aircraft you set flaps at 5
deg intervals. Typical flap settings are 15 for take off and 40 for landing.
There is no separate generator switch. The generator light will come on if the Master Switch is on
and the engine is not running or there has been a failure in the generator.
Monitor your engine and oil temperatures. If these get to high you will experience engine failure.
There is no 2D main panel for this aircraft.

Engine Startup
The Master Switch is the battery switch and starter. Ensure the fuel valves are both open (the
usual position is to have both tanks on) and both ignition switches are on. Turn on the fuel pump to
get the fuel pressure up to 0.3 bar. Turn off the fuel pump. Right click on the Master Switch to start
the engine. If the outside air temperature is below 7 degrees Celsius then you may need to push in
the choke before starting. Ensure you pull the choke back out again after the engine has started to
prevent engine damage. Idle engine RPM is 2000.

Ant's Airplanes 1
Sierra LSA Quick Start Guide V1.4

Engine startup will fail if the temperature is below 7 degrees Celsius and you don't have the choke
pushed in. Engine startup will fail if you did not run the fuel pump to build up pressure.

Take-off and Climb

Set flaps to 15 deg. Set trim for takeoff (one bar nose up). Apply full power (5200rpm), rotate at 55
kts. Climb at full power (5200rpm). With a full load climb should be around 70kts at 900fpm.

Cruise
Set RPM to 5000 to achieve around 110 kts cruise speed. Fuel consumption is 4.8 gal per hour.
The aircraft does fly with a slight nose down attitude and you need a bit of nose down trim to
maintain level flight.

Landing
On the downwing leg reduce power to 4000rpm and speed back to 70kts. Turn base at 70kts with
15 deg flap. Turn finals at 60kts with full flap (if necessary). Touchdown at 48kts.

Shutdown
Turn off electrical systems. Turn off both ignition switches to stop the engine. Turn off the Master
Switch (left click) to turn off the battery.

Animation Manager
Press Shift+3 to display the 2D popup Animation Manager. Use this screen to select the various
display options for the aircraft.

GPS
The GPSmap 296 in the normal model uses the default FSX 295 GPS but with a new 3D body.
Operation is similar to the default 295 GPS but you should use the page button to select terrain,
active flight plan and proc pages.

RXP version
If you have the RealityXP 530 GPS (not included in this package and may be purchased
separately from www.realityxp.com) you can use the RXP version of the aircraft. This will replace
the normal radio stack with the RXP GPS and radios. Refer to the Pilot's Handbook on how to
customise this version (for example, if you have the RXP 430 GPS).

More Information
Please read the Pilot's Handbook. It explains in detail the operation of this aircraft.
