Becoming an Entrepreneur

“Think Big”
Motivation is the key to hard work and hard work with sincerity makes an individual to achieve his
planned goals easily. Same is the case with 3 boys of IoBM, who have planned to launch their own
marketing agence, namely “Think Big”. These 3 boys include Osama Mehboob, Abdul Samad Siddiqui
and Shahbaz Aslam, all three of us are doing BBA (H) in marketing from Institute of Business
Management, and by july 2011 we will be labelled as graduates. After the global meltdown, we don’t
find any esiness to get a job, moreover if we opt to go for a job than we won’t be fully able to implement
all that we want to and what we have learned.

At this level, our pockets are nearly empty, because we can only bear travelling and communication
expenditures, other than this we don’t have any amount which we can invest and generate extra
revenue from it. We have also learned that most of the industrialists have started from a scratch and
today they have distribution of their products or services all over Pakistan, form example Mr. Karim, the
owner of Al-Karam Textile Mills (Pvt.) Ltd., and Mr. Sikander Sultan, the owner of M/s. Shan Foods (Pvt.)
Ltd.

Similarly, we also decided to launch a BTL-marketing agency and we will take initiatives by taking
contracts from small brands, to perform their brand activation. I have worked under M/s. Helium (Pvt.)
Ltd. And M/s. Empact (Pvt.) Ltd., with them I did two activities and have learned that what is it all about.
We don’t it completely untill we get into practical field and I do accept that knowledge from education
also plays an important role. All three of us friend have a desire to achieve something, we want make
out something out of nothing. By nothing I mean we don’t possess any finacial support and believe that
we don’t need it initially. This is just because, these it is a trend that we do need to visit our client again
and again and please him to give us a chance to start, and he won’t be visitng us as such, but for contact
basis, we will provide him with our residential address and will label it as our office.

While applying for activities at other marketing agencies, we have learned that how much teenagers are
enthuthiastic to get a chance to get emplyement, if there is a need of 12 guys than 120 boys will appear
for interview. Other than this, this is a great opportunity, there aren’t too many agencies in Karachi who
are performing this sort of marketing and there a lot many brands who would perform this brand
promotion activity. We do lack in experience, but along with that we afraid that if we don’t start it today
than we might lose the golden opportunity. We do need experience, we believe that we will take help
from our consent teachers and experts, if desired, and by the time will pass, we will also be gaining
some experience at our own.

We don’t want to waste any time. It is our own desire to become something and make an example for
others, on one hand we have a lot of ambitions and on the other hand we have nothing to lose. If we
don’t get any such contracts in the start, than we believe that we will continue our rigour and will
achieve something good within next 2-3 years. And in long turn we believe that we will acquire the top
position among all the marketing agencies of asia.

Marketing is all about selling a product and service in an efficient manner and to increase revenue for
the organization. So at the starting, we need to do marketing for our “Think Big” and keep the hard work
going own. As the time will pass, people will recognize our good work and will prefer to go for “Think
Big” to perform marketing activities of the organization.
