Report Experiment 7.1 Textbook KSSM F2 Experiment 7.

1 A
NAME:MUHAMMAD ADIB BIN ROSLIZAM

CLASS:2 AMANAH

Inference: To investigate the effects of changes in resistance on electric current.

Hypothesis: The higher the resistance, the smaller the current flow.
Aim: To study the effects of changes in resistance on electric current.
Variables:
Manipulated Variable: The length of the nichrome wire
Responding Variable: Reading of the ammeter
Constant Variable: Number of dry cells
List of apparatus and materials:
Apparatus: Ammeter, metre rule, dry cell holder, dry cell, thumbtack, crocodile clip, jockey, and connecting
wire.
Materials: Nichrone wire
Set up apparatus:
Procedure:
1. Nichrome wire is fixed to both ends of the metre rule.
2. Apparatus is set up as shown.
3. The jockey is placed where the length of the nichrome wire is 20cm. The reading of the ammeter is
recorded.
4. Step 3 is repeated by increasing the length of the nichrome wire to 30cm, 40cm, 50cm, and 60cm.
5. Record the ammeter readings in a table for each length of the nichrome wire used.
6. Graph of current against the length of nichrome wire is plotted.
Length of nichrome wire, (cm) Current, (A)
20.0 2.5
30.0 2.0
40.0 1.5
50.0 1.0
60.0 0.5

Analyse Data :

Conclusion : The hypothesis is accepted because the longer the length of the wire, the smaller the
current flow
Discussions :

1. What is the relationship between the length of the nichrome wire

and resistance ?
The longer the length of the nichrome wire, the higher the resistance.
2. What is the relationship between the length of the nichrome wire
and the current that flows in the circuit ?
The longer the length of the nichrome wire, the smaller the current flows in the circuit.
3. What is the relationship between resistance and electric current ?
The higher the resistance, the smaller the electric current

Inference: To investigate the effect of changes in voltage on electric current.
Hypothesis: The higher the voltage, the larger the current flow.
Aim: To study the effect of changes in voltage on electric current.
Variables:
Manipulated Variable: Number of dry cells
Responding Variable: Reading of the ammeter
Constant Variable: Nichrome wire of 10cm length

List of apparatus and materials: Ammeter, woltmeter, connecting wire, nichrome wire of 10cm length, dry
cell and crocodile clip.
Set up apparatus:
Procedure:
1. Circuit is set up as shown above using one dry cell.
2. The reading on the ammeter and voltmeter is recorded.
3. Observations are recorded in a table.
4. Steps 1 to 3 are repeated using two, three and four dry cells.
5. Graph of current against voltage is plotted.

Tabulate Data:
No of dry cells Voltage, Volt Current, I
1 10 1.0
2 20 2.0
3 30 3.0
4 40 4.0
5 50 5.0

Analyse Data:

Conclusion: The hypothesis is accepted because the higher the voltage, the larger the current flow.
Discussion:
1. What is the relationship between the number of dry cells and the reading of voltmeter?
The larger the number of dry cells, the higher the reading of voltmeter.

2. What is the relationship between voltage and electric current?

The higher the voltage, the higher the electric current.
