Brake Control Valve

Remove And Install Brake Control Valve

1. Remove the seat and the floor plates.

2. Remove the bolts and hose clamp (1).

3. Disconnect linkage (2) and hose assembly (3). Remove four bolts (4), plate (5) and the two spacers.

4. Remove the brake control valve from the case. Remove the three O-ring seals from the brake
control valve.

5. Disassemble the brake control valve as follows:

a. Remove two bolts (12), cover (11), seals (10) and (19), spacers (19) and spring (18) from valve
body (16).

b. Remove plunger (13) and seals (15) and (20) from cover (11).

c. Remove two bolts (6), cover (7), seal (14) and spool assembly (17) from valve body (16). Remove
slug (8) from spool assembly (17).

6. Disassemble spool assembly (17) as follows:

a. Remove ring (21) and sleeve (24) from spool (26).

b. Remove retainer (22), spring (25) and poppet (23) from spool (26).

NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the brake control valve.

7. Assemble spool assembly (17) as follows:

a. Install poppet (23), spring (25) and retainer (22) in spool (26).

b. Install sleeve (24) and ring (21) in spool (26).

8. Assemble the brake control valve as follows:

a. Install slug (8) in spool assembly (17).

b. Install spool assembly (17), seal (14), cover (7) and two bolts (6) in valve body (16).

c. Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material on the seal bore in cover (11) for seal (15), and let it dry.
Install seal (15) in cover (11) with the lip of the seal toward the outside of the cover as shown. Put
clean oil on the seal.

d. Install seal (15) and plunger (13) in cover (11).

e. Install spring (18), spacers (9), seals (10) and (19), cover (11) and two bolts (12) in valve body (16).
Tighten the bolts to a torque of 48 ± 7 N·m (35 ± 4 lb ft).

9. Install the three O-ring seals in the bottom of the brake control valve.

10. Put the brake control valve in position on the case and install the two spacers, plate (5), and four
bolts (4).

11. Connect hose assembly (3) and linkage (2) to the brake control valve.

12. Install hose clamp (1) and the bolts.

13. Install the floor plates and the seat.
