Project Management Office

Introduction

To strengthen national government agricultural effort in Liberia, the African Methodist Episcopal
University (AMEU) sees it significant to develop a human resource development program in
agriculture to ensure men and women are equipped with agricultural education and innovative skills
for improvement in the huge market opportunities in the field of agriculture in Liberia. The AMEU
human capital enhancement program in agriculture will allow agriculture and agribusinesses to provide
opportunities to millions of young people entering the labor markets every year; and will prioritize
women participation and empowerment since they constitute close to seventy percent of the
agricultural workforce and are major contributors to food production.

Hence, establishing a project office will hasten all preparatory works needed, spearhead maintenance
of current infrastructure and keep key stakeholders focus of other activities on the main campus of the
AMEU.

Objective

To revamp the premises of the Jordan Agriculture Institute as a campus of the AME University hosting
the Agriculture College and the AME University Medical School.
The Project Management Office will be supervised by the Director of Facility Management who is
accountable to the Vice President for Administration but may be asked to share periodic
reports/updates with the University President. More specifically, the responsibilities of the Project
Management Office are to:
1. Ensure that the total cost of the available land belonging to the Jordan Agriculture Institution is
surveyed and maps and necessary deeds obtained;
2. Ensure the complete clearing of bushes on the premise of the Jordan Agriculture Institute;
3. Ensure the development of detailed renovation estimates;
4. Develop detailed baselines of project schedules;
5. Lend adequate supervision to all workers associated with this project;
6. Maintain accountability for quality of project deliverables;
7. Manage overall project communications, including project documentation;
8. Ensure project team efficiency and effectiveness, while coordinating and fostering teamwork;
9. Provide periodic updates about progress of projects to the Facility Management Office;
