OLA is all set to enter into the 2 wheeler electric market, with its curvy and vintage looking
scooters. 2-Wheeler in India is very competitive market, major players being Hero MotoCorp,
Bajaj Auto, TVS Motors. But the electric segment is still a project for these big brands. We all
are well aware of the fact that Electric is the future of mobility but OLA’s bold step in the form
of E-Scooter has advanced a huge step towards that future. While we can see, that Bajaj with
the project of Electric Chetak and TVS with its iQube has also been working towards that same
future but OLA with huge investment, visionary idea, excellent implementation and project
management has made it possible.

“OLA e-scooter is much more than a scooter,

It’s a revolution.” – Mr. Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO OLA

On 17th July, OLA opened the reservation of its e-scooter with the minimum booking amount
of 499 rupees only, the booking amount was completely refundable. The scooter was an
instant hit and within the 24 hours OLA received 100,000 bookings. Following which, Mr.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO of the company tweeted, "Thanks to all who
have reserved our scooter! Planning a launch event for the Ola Scooter on 15th August. Will
share full specs and details on product and availability dates. Looking forward to it." OLA is
all set to launch the e-scooter on 15th August 2021.

OLA E-Scooter’s success is the by-product of impeccable strategy, excellent leadership,

technical expertise and lastly but most importantly exceptional project management.
Planning of this project is not very far from the present, OLA in itself is a very new company
and they have been laying their major focus towards their cab service. From idea generation
to implementation took only 2 years. Within these two years OLA has pooled much needed
investment from SoftBank. Later on they began with the establishment of the India’s biggest
two wheeler plant. The electric scooter will be rolled out of its factory in Krishnagiri district in
Tamil Nadu and the total project outlay has been put at Rs 2,354 crore. The plant set up over
500 acres of land is an integrated facility with manufacturing, battery as well as supplier parks,
ensuring over 90 per cent of parts are localized and in close proximity. OLA set to keep the
prices aggressive, giving high range and all the advanced features which the 2-wheeler owner
craves for. They have also planned to setup charging stations at various vicinities to make the
mobility easy for the owners.
