Changing jobs when you have a residence permit for an employed
person in Finland
Adapted from https://migri.fi/en/changing-jobs

You may change jobs freely as long as you have a valid residence permit for an employed person and for
a certain professional field, and your new jobs is within the same professional field. You may also have
several jobs in the same professional field.
When you apply for a residence permit for an employed person and your old permit is still valid, you
may continue to work in your old professional field even if we have not yet made a decision on your new
application.
If your new job is in another professional field, you must apply for a new residence permit for an
employed person. You are not allowed to work in the new professional field until you have been granted
the relevant permit.
If you have several jobs, you may apply for a residence permit for an employed person and enter several
employers and professional fields on your application. Each employer must fill in the form TEM054, and
all forms must be appended to the application.
If you have been granted an employer-specific residence permit for an employed person, the permit
applies only to work with the specified employer. If you wish to change jobs, you must apply for and be
granted a new residence permit for an employed person before you may start in your new job.
If you do not apply for a new residence permit until your old permit has expired, you are not allowed to
continue working. Your right to work is renewed when you have been granted the relevant permit.
