Public Safety Mission Statement
As a Safety Officer for Thomas More College. My fundamental duty is to serve mankind; to
safeguard lives property. To respect the Constitutional Rights of all people. Remembering that
this is an institution of learning, and in that light try to make all contact with students, faculty,
staff, and visitors as pleasant as possible.

safeguard lives property; to protect the innocent against deception; the weak against oppression
or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional
Rights of all people.
I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities, or friendships influence my
decisions. I will enforce the rules and regulations of the College courteously and appropriately
without favor,malice or ill will, never employing unnecessary force and never accepting gratuities.
Whatever I see or hear of a confidential nature or that is confided in me in my official capacity will be
kept secret, unless revelation is necessary in the performance of my duty.
I recognize the trust placed upon me as a Safety Officer for Thomas More College, and I will strive to
achieve the objectives and ideals expected of me.
Welcome to Thomas More College
The Public Safety Department is here to help promote safety and orderliness for our Community and all who
come onto our campus. The following regulations are meant to provide both order and fairness in the daily task
of parking your vehicle on campus.
This pamphlet outlines the parking regulations on the college grounds. These regulations are enforced twenty-
hours a day, seven days a week. It is your responsibility to read and comply with these rules.

hours a day, and seven days a week.
A. Motor Vehicle Registration Information
a. Who is required to register for a parking permit:
i. All students – Residents, Commuters, and TAP
ii. All faculty and staff.
iii. All contract employees – Bookstore, Food Service, etc.
C. PARKING REGULATIONS
a. Grass and Sidewalks
i. Parking or driving on the grass or sidewalk is prohibited.
ii. Violators will be cited and held financially liable for any damage done to the grounds or
sidewalk.
b. Speed Limits
i. The posted speed limit on all campus roads is 20 MPH.
ii. You can be cited for reckless operation of a motor vehicle if you are observed speeding
or driving in a reckless manner.
c. Handicapped Parking
i. These parking spaces are reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles that have a state
issued handicapped permit that is properly displayed.
ii. Any student, faculty, or staff may receive a temporary handicap permit for use on campus
only with a doctor’s note.
d. Fire Lanes
i. There is no parking in fire lanes at anytime.
ii. All fire lanes are marked with signs and /or yellow striping.
iii. Location of fire lanes:
4. Chelsea Drive, the side of the street closest to CCC and on both sides in the aera of the
resident halls.
b. Towing
i. Any motor vehicle with three or more unpaid tickets is subject to be towed at owner’s
expense.
ii. Any motor vehicle parked in a fire lane is subject to be towed at owner’s expense.
iii. Any motor vehicle parked in a handicap spot, not display an approved handicap permit, is
subject to be towed at owner’s expense.
iv. Any motor vehicle illegally parked in a reserved parking spot, is subject to be towed at
owner’s expense.
v. Any motor vehicle impeding the normal flow of traffic is subject to be towed at owner’s
expense.
vi. Any motor vehicle abandoned on Thomas More College property will be towed at
owner’s expense.
vii. Any motor vehicle parked on the grass and/or sidewalks is subject to be towed at owner’s
expense.
viii. Any motor vehicle impeding the daily operations of the college is subject to be towed at
owner’s expense.
d. Appealing Tickets
i. Tickets may be appealed in writing within seven (7) days of the citation.
ii. A form is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week at the campus safety
office.
iii. All appeals are sent to the judicial board for a ruling.
iv. An appeal of the judicial board’s decision is possible, if done within seven days of the
board’s decision.
v. If appealing the judicial board’s decision a hearing will be schedule.
