SITUATION #1
CONCEPT:
The word “euthanasia” itself comes from the Greek word “eu” means good and
“thanatos” means death. The idea is that instead of condemning someone to a slow,
painful, or undignified death, euthanasia would allow the patient to experience relatively
“good death”.
EVALUATION:
There are types of euthanasia and in this paragraph I will discuss what the types
of euthanasia are and what are the advantage and disadvantages of it. Here are some
distinctions demarcating different versions. Active Euthanasia it killing of patient by
active, an example of this is injecting a patient with a lethal dose of drugs. Passive
Euthanasia it is intentionally letting a patient die by withholding the artificial life support
such as ventilator or feeding tube. Voluntary Euthanasia is with the consent of the
patient where the patient is the one who will give the permission to do it. Self-
Administered Euthanasia, the patient administers the means of death. Other
Administered Euthanasia, a person other than the patient administers the means of
death. Assisted, the patient administers the means of death but with assistance of
another person, such as physician.
There are many possible combinations of the above types, and many types of
euthanasia are morally controversial. Some types euthanasia , such as assissted
voluntary forms are legal in some countries.
Mercy Killing is one of legal action in some countries voluntary or involuntary. In other
words, someone kills a patient without their explicit consent to end the patient’s life and
suffering.
Involuntary Euthanasia- without the consent of the patient.
