Anticipating Grammar

Grammaring activities can focus on a wide variety of grammar points, as Task 6 illustrated. However, a
previous task shows, it is also possible to focus on particular target language when doing a ‘grammarin
lesson. For example, can and could in requests.

It is important to note that grammaring activities can be challenging for both teachers and students. Fo
teacher, this is because it is sometimes difficult to anticipate the grammar points which may arise, and
necessary to be confident of a number of different grammar points for one lesson.

Remember that before setting students a grammaring activity, the students need to have already read
listened to the text earlier or in a previous lesson, otherwise they will be unable to do the task.
