I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Bataan Heroes Memorial College with its mission to transform its student to
“Total Persons” believes that learning is not only acquired within the four walls of
a classroom but with different approaches that would be most helpful to its
students.

On the Job Training is a requirement in the Electronics Engineering program

that aims to expose the students in the actual work environment, validate the
knowledge acquired from school, orient and trains them to be work ready once
they graduated from college. OJT as part of its curriculum is very helpful especially
to Electronics Engineering students since it would give them a clear view of the
actual field of in the Industry.

The learnings I acquire during my OJT period would be useful in my future

endeavor. I learned communication skill, which is very important when
communicating with bosses and workmates. I also developed my computer skill
and networking skill as throughout my OJT I am assigned with biometrics, IP
addressing both for biomedical equipment and computer networks, proposal on
how to increase the signal strength of mobile phone networks at the lower ground
of the hospital and visual graphics.

Most importantly, I learn people skills, socialized, explore, ask questions

and improve my technical skills.

III. COMPANY PROFILE

HISTORY

Over a decade ago, a group of Balanga – based physicians, most of whom

are couples, got together on Fridays to pray the rosary and unwind after a week of
stressful work caring for patients. It was a diverse group whose specialties includes
Internal Medicine, Surgery, Anaesthesia, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urology,
Pediatrics, Dermatology and Family Medicine. After some time the Bataan Rosary
Group, as they began to call themselves decided to reach out to the less –
fortunate members of the community. To finance this desire, they decided to hold
a benefit concert featuring Richard Poon. The beneficiaries includes a cluster of
families living at the Balanga land – fill, inmates at the Provincial Jail and Bahay
Puso residents. Several more concerts followed, each with pre – defined
beneficiaries and Doctors for a Cause was born. To continue serving, starting a
foundation was also conceived. But due to limited funds it was shelved for the
meantime.

Working together during these benefit concerts proved that the Rosary
Group could work together towards success. It was inevitable that a business

VI. EXPERIENCES

A. ON FINDING COMPANY

Finding a company where I can perform my On-the-Job Training was not

an easy task especially with a broken schedule and in the middle of on-going 2nd
semester. I first submitted my application for OJT at Minebea Mitsumi Philippines
Inc., they had a slot for me but I get easily tired due to long travel so I turned down
the offer. I also submitted an application at Petron Refinery but the application
process took a long a time so I decided not to pursue since the deadline for
completion of OJT was near. I submitted applications at a poultry farm at Samal
where the company has an automated system for feeding and harvesting,
unfortunately the company turned down the application. Lastly, I took my chance
at Centro Medico de Santisimo Rosary Hospital at Roman Super Highway,
Balanga, Bataan since they are in need of OJTs and currently, they are the most
advanced in terms of equipment and facility in the Bataan area.

B. ON THE FIRST DAY OF TRAINING

The first day of training was a simple introduction of the company/ hospital,
we’re introduced to the staff and was taken to a tour throughout the building. The
supervisor was very accommodating and really wants to help us learn in relation
to our field from the company. At first, it was unlikely relevant to our field but
through the orientation and tour, the need for and Electronic Engineer in the
company was realized. Also during the orientation our task was discussed and
even requested to meet with an adviser or a representative from the school to
further help us, trainees, to really learn not only from the company itself but to learn
relevant to our course as well.

C. ON THE MIDDLE OF TRAINING

Through the course of our OJT, the beginning was nerve wrecking. It would
be the first time for me to do an actual work and I would be on a hospital were high
tech and sophisticated equipment maybe assignment to us. But eventual with the
help of our supervisor and helpful staff, we finished our assigned task and get
along well with our co-workers as well. It was hard at the start but I learned to adopt
with the environment and learned to cope up with the system of the company. It
was tiring and yet challenging. Though, at some point, I felt unenthusiastic on days
of OJT due to tight schedule of OJT days and school matters especially during
days when a lot of projects and reports that needs to be submitted and with
upcoming quizzes and exams, I found it difficult in my part. But with enough
courage and will to finish, I manage to go through with the task at hand.

D. ON THE LAST DAY OF TRAINING

The last day of OJT was both happy and sad. Happy for it was an
accomplishment on my part, to survive and learn from the company and sad for
the experience comes to an end. It was a pleasure working with them and all the
learnings will surely be helpful in my future endeavor. Having said that, we thank
all the staff that helped us get through with our OJT days and showed our
appreciation for accommodating us in their company/ hospital.

VIII. ISSUES AND CONCERNS

A. About the company as noted during the OJT

The issues and concerns about the company that I encountered
during my On-the-Job training are as follows:
1. Since the hospital was new, we don’t have a permanent office
throughout the course of our OJT. We’re only using any available
office from time to time.
2. Computers and other electronic devices were not fully set up.
3. Weak signal at the lower ground floor though we were asked to do a
proposal on how to increase the signal there.

B. Skills, knowledge and trainings needed before the OJT

The required skills, knowledge and trainings needed before the OJT
based on my experience are as follows:
1. Computer literacy, able to use Microsoft office, photo editors, etc.
2. Basic knowledge on networking, data transfer, IP addressing.
3. Knowledge on cellular signals and amplification of signals.
4. Knowledge on digital and electronic signal transfers.
5. People skills.

C. Recommendation to improve student’s preparedness during OJT

For future Electronics Engineering student who would undergo On-
the-Job Training, it is important to have knowledge in electronics and data
networking. It is also important to be attentive, pay attention into smallest
detail and don’t be shy to ask questions. They should also learn how to
interact with co-workers and how to deal with pressure and criticisms.

IX. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION

On-the-Job Training is a vital part of an Engineering Program. With this, it

allows the student to personally experience the actual operation of an industrial
plant or company in relation to one’s chosen field. It enables them to explore,
understand and acquire knowledge and skills that would be necessary once they
graduated from college.

My On-the-Job Training help me improve my self-confidence, curiosity,

knowledge and skill. I was assigned on different tasks that allows me to learn not
only technical skills but most importantly, person skills. From orientation, to IP
addressing, to editing, these tasks helps me improve not only my skills but also my
self-belief and confidence.

Undergoing On-the-Job Training was a great experience. I would

recommend it to future students to take OJT course and select a company that
would really help them improve and develop into a “TOTAL PERSONS”.
