FAULT CODE 1011 - Foot throttle signal out of range,throttle above 95%
of input for 5 seconds

1011 - Foot throttle signal out of range, throttle above 95% of input for 5 seconds

Control Module : AIC

NOTE : The Electronic Service Tool must be used to remove faults from
memory.

Cause:

1. CAN communication interrupted during normal operation.

2. Faulty reading from component.

3. Connectors not mated fully, pins not pushed into connector fully, bent pin or
broken wire at rear of connector.

4. Wiring or circuits open.

5. Wiring or circuits shorted.

6. Connector pins corroded or dirty. When removing connectors inspect and

clean pins. Clean female pins by installing and removing.

Solution: :

1. Find out if the fault code is still active, refer to 0000 - Retrieving fault codes,
Backhoes Prior to clearing fault codes write down all fault codes, number of
occurrences, and engine hours at last occurrence.

(1) Use the Electronic Service Tool to clear all fault codes.

(2) To check for fault code: Start and operate machine.

A. NOT OK – Fault code 1011 is recorded again. Go to Step 2 .

B. OK – Fault is not recorded again. OK for return to service.
2. Check circuits at throttle potentiometer.

(1) Connector foot throttle

(2) Foot throttle potentiometer

(1) Disconnect Connector Foot Throttle. Inspect pins.

(2) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

(3) Check voltage from pin C to pin B of Connector Foot Throttle, a reading of
5 V should be obtained.

(4) Using an Ohm meter, check from pin B of Connector Foot Throttle to
ground, a reading of continuity should be obtained.

(1) Connector side console to main chassis

(2) Side console ground

(5) Turn ignition switch to the off position.

(6) Disconnect Connector Instrument Cluster Connector 1, inspect pins.

(2) Instrument cluster connector 2

(7) Check circuit C120 from pin E Connector Foot Throttle to pin 20 of
Connector Instrument Cluster Connector 1.

(8) Disconnect Connector Instrument Cluster Connector 2, inspect pins.

(9) Check circuit C216 from pin A Connector Foot Throttle to pin 16 of
Connector Instrument Cluster Connector 2.

(10) Check circuit C220 from pin B Connector Foot Throttle to pin 20 of
Connector Instrument Cluster Connector 2.

(11) Check circuit C218 from pin C Connector Foot Throttle to pin 18 of
Connector Instrument Cluster Connector 2.

A. OK — Replace foot throttle. Return to Step 1 to confirm elimination

of fault. If fault is recorded again go to Step 6 .
B. NOT OK — No voltage but circuits check good. Go to Step 6 . No
voltage and/or circuits are open. Go to Step 3 .
3. Check circuits from front console to foot throttle connector.

(1) Disconnect Connector Front Console to Main Chassis Harness from

Connector Front Console Harness. Inspect pins.

(2) Check circuit C216 from pin A Connector Foot Throttle to pin 1F of
Connector Front Console Harness.

(3) Check circuit C220 from pin BConnector Foot Throttle to pin 2E of
Connector Front Console Harness.

(4) Check circuit C218 from pin C Connector Foot Throttle to pin 1E of
Connector Front Console Harness.

(5) Check circuit C120 from pin EConnector Foot Throttle to pin 2F of
Connector Front Console Harness.

A. NOT OK — Determine break between connectors and repair.

Return to step 1 to confirm elimination of fault.
B. OK — Go to Step 4 .
4. Check circuits from front console to side console.

(1) Loader lever control

(2) Side console to main chassis harness connector.

(1) Disconnect Connector Side Console To Main Chassis Harness from

Connector Side Console Harness. Inspect pins.

(2) Check circuit C216 from pin 1F Connector Front Console to Main Chassis
Harness to pin 2L Connector Side Console To Main Chassis Harness.

(3) Check circuit C220 from pin 2E Connector Front Console to Main Chassis
Harness to pin 4C Connector Side Console To Main Chassis Harness.

(4) Check circuit C218 from pin 1E Connector Front Console to Main Chassis
Harness to pin 7B Connector Side Console To Main Chassis Harness.

(5) Check circuit C120 from pin 2F Connector Front Console to Main Chassis
Harness to pin 5C Connector Side Console To Main Chassis Harness.

A. NOT OK — Determine break between connectors and repair.

Return to step 1 to confirm elimination of fault.
B. OK — Go to Step 5 .
5. Check circuit from side console connector to instrument cluster.

(1) Instrument cluster connector 1

(2) Instrument cluster connector 2

(1) Check circuit C216 from pin 2L Connector Side Console Harness to pin 16
of Connector Instrument Cluster Connector 2.

(2) Check circuit C220 from pin 4C Connector Side Console Harness to pin 20
of Connector Instrument Cluster Connector 2.

(3) Check circuit C218 from pin 7B Connector Side Console Harness to pin 18
of Connector Instrument Cluster Connector 2.

(4) Check circuit C120 from pin 5C Connector Side Console Harness to pin 20
of Connector Instrument Cluster Connector 1.

A. NOT OK — Determine break between connectors and repair.

Return to step 1 to confirm elimination of fault.
B. OK — Go to Step 6 .
6. Replace the instrument cluster.

(1) Remove and replace instrument cluster.

A. Return to Step 1 to confirm elimination of fault. If fault is recorded
