LESSON 5: CREATING TEXT

TOPIC: LESSON 5.3 USING TEXT STYLES TO ORGANIZE FONTS
A text style is a named collection of text settings that controls the appearance of text,
such as font, line spacing, justification, and color. You create text styles to specify the
format of text quickly, and to ensure that text conforms to industry or project standards.

 When you create text, it uses the settings of the current text style.
 If you change a setting in a text style, all text objects in the drawing that use
the style update automatically.
 You can change the properties of individual objects to override the text style.
 All text styles in your drawing are listed in the Text Style drop-down.
 Text styles apply to notes, leaders, dimensions, tables, and block attributes.

Text Font
A significant part of any text style is the font assigned to that style. More than one text
style can use the same font. If your company has a standard font, you can modify other
text style settings to create a set of text styles that use this standard font in different
ways.

The following shows the same font used by different text styles that use different
oblique settings to define the slant of the text.

Text Height
If you specify a text height other than 0 as part of a text style, that value is used when
you create single-line and multiline text. If the height is set to 0, you are prompted for
the height when you create single-line text, while multiline text defaults to the value
stored in the TEXTSIZE system variable.
