To be able to apply Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) in your Field of Specialization, do the

following steps:
Step 1: Reading Curriculum Guide in Science Subject
Identify a grade level from K-12 Curriculum and read the Curriculum Guide for
Sciences of this level. Focus your Reading on the different science competencies of
every lesson.

Step 2: Identifying Science Competency for IBL

Find learning competencies in the chosen curriculum guide that are suited for an IBL.
Determine the type of inquiry that you will be using. Note them down on the table
provided.

Subject: Sciences

Grade Level: 7

Science Learning Competencies Type of Inquiry

The students should be able to:
1 investigate the relationship between
the amount of force applied and the
mass of the object to the amount of
change in the object’s motion
2 explain why the cell is considered the
basic structural and functional unit
of all organism
3 identify beneficial and harmful
microorganisms
4 describe the process of fertilization

5 differentiate biotic and abiotic

components of an ecosystem
6 describe the different ecological
relationship found in an ecosystem
7 relate the characteristics of wave

8 describe the characteristic of sound

using the concept of wavelength,
velocity, and amplitude
9 explain sound production in the
human voice box, and how pitch,

loudness, and the quality of sound

vary from one person to another
10 explain how some human activities
affect the atmosphere

Step 3: Developing Core Questions

Create core question/s about the competencies that learners might be asked to
answer.
