Coronaviruses is a group of related viruses that causes disease in mammals and birds.

In December 2019
a pneumonia outbreak was reported in Wuhan, China. On 31 December 2019, the outbreak was traced
a novel strain of coronavirus, which was given the interim name 2019-nCoV by the World Healty
Organization, later renamed SARS-CoV—2 by the internasional Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses.

As of,there have been at least confirmed deaths andmore than confirmed cases in the coronavirus
pneumonia pandemic. The Wuhan strain has been indentified as new strain of Betacoronavirus from
group 2B with approximately 70% gnenetic similitary to the SARS-CoV. The virus has a 96% similiutary to
a bat coronavirus, so it is widely suspected to orginate from bats as well. Pandemic has resulted in travel
restrictions and nationwide lockdowns in several countries especially Indonesia.

To prevent the spread of the Coronavirus Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) officially stops its
classroom based teaching in order to reduce the potential impact of the Coronavirus. There will be no
face-to-face learning, but it is all done online. Online learning could use some platforms such as Google
Classroom, Zoom, WhatsApp Group, Line, or UNM web.
