DESCRIPTION OF THE PHINIS BUILDING UNIVERSITY OF MAKASSAR

Abstrac:
The Phinisi Building is located on Gunung Sari State University (UNM) Campus, Makassar,
Jl Andi Pangerang Pettarani. This building designed by Yu Sing, benyamin k narkan, eguh
murthi pramono, iwan gunawan. At that time, in 2008 UNM held a architectural design
competition.
UNM itself is the largest state teacher training campus in Makassar and even Eastern
Indonesia. This building has 17 floors. Tellu Cappa (three Peaks) is another name for this
building. Local wisdom is the main inspiration for the construction of this building. Local
wisdom is in the form of the UNM logo, Phinisi Boat, the philosophy of life of the Sul-Sel
people and the Makassar Traditional House. The construction of the Phinisi Building takes
the concept of Phinisi Boat, a Bugis - Makassar ship which has been famous for a long time.
Phinisi boat is used by the Bugis-Makassar people in exploring the vast ocean.

Purpose:
The purpose of this paper is to study and find out about Phinisi University (UNM) Campus
buildings, which are located on Gunung Sari State University (UNM) Campus, Makassar, Jl
Andi Pangerang Pettarani.

Methode:
The methode used is a direct survey of the site located on on Gunung Sari State University
(UNM) Campus, Makassar, Jl Andi Pangerang Pettarani. To get physical data. A methode to
explore and understand the meaning that is considered a social or humanitarian problem.

Result & Discussion:

1. Foundation
The foundation used is the pile foundation with a depth that varies between 12-15
meters, with a diameter of 50 cm.
2. Floor
There are around 17 GPPA UNM floors, the floor is made of concrete with ceramic
and tile finishing. Ceramics are used in parts of circulation that are easily exposed to
water so it is not slippery, while ceramics are used in parts that are not easily exposed
to water. The thickness of the plates on each floor is 12 cm.
3. Wall
One of the most interesting GPPA UNM structures is the walls. Conventionally, the
wall structure is made of concrete brick, or brick. But in certain parts, specifically in
finishing, using lightweight steel wall structures. In addition, this building does not
use shear walls but uses core walls. In addition, glass with a thickness of ± 5 mm is
used as a supplementary material for the walls and windows of the GPPA UNM
building. For wall coverings, the outside uses Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP)
while the parts use marble.
4. Coloumn
GPPA UNM uses a 4x4 grid system in the determination of building columns. The
diameter of the building column varies, from floor 1 to floor 11 the column diameter
is 100 cm, from the 11th floor to the 13th column diameter is 80 cm and from the 13th
floor to the 17th the diameter is 50 cm.
5. Beam
Floor beam in the building serves to withstand the floor load. There are two types of
floor beams, which are main beams and joists.
6. Roof
The roof structure is the part of the building that holds the load from the roof. The
roof structure is divided into the roof truss and roof truss supports. The framework of
the roof holds the load from the cover material. Roof truss supports are wooden / steel
beams arranged in triangles, referred to as horses. The roof truss and roof truss used in
GPPA UNM is steel. While the roof covering uses zinc coated aluminum. The tower
building has a symmetrical trapezoidal plan, with façades on both sloping sides
(North and South sides) using a HIPERBOLIC PARABOLOID structural system. The
tower façade undergoes rhythmic rotation forming dynamic building expressions.
Using the hyperbolic paraboloid system, the tower façade is a metaphor of the main
sail of the pinisi boat. These horizontal canopies on the North and South sides of the
façade can also function as photovoltaics to convert solar energy into electrical
energy. On the façade of the west and east sides of the tower there is a 3-dimensional
ornamental wall formed from a series of triangular fields, as a sun barrier. The shape
of the tower building becomes more attractive because it has a different visual form
when viewed from different perspectives. At the top of the tower there is a series of
rhythmic pipes that can also function as telecommunication towers. The tower
building is also a metaphor for the elements of wind and fire. The façade of the sail
represents the wind element, while the spire is a simplification of the shape of the
flames.
