Chorus Variety Show 2011

Variety Show is here! Below you will find an UPDATED calendar of the remaining mandatory
rehearsals and performance call times. Please keep this calendar in a visible place so that you
can ensure that you know what is happening throughout this busy month. Please make sure you
have made arrangements with your workplace/coaches so that you do not have conflicts.
Communication is KEY! Information about ticket sales, flower sales and the professionally
recorded DVD will be coming soon.

Important:
• We are taking great pains to avoid holding after school rehearsals. The few that are listed
above are very important and very mandatory.
• Ensemble rehearsals are for the small ensembles (not whole choirs) assigned to a
specific song. Please wear comfortable attire and shoes appropriate movement.

WHAT DO WE WEAR?
See the back of this page.

WHEN DO WE EAT?
During the three dress rehearsals, Mr. Easterling will once again be providing hot food for ALL
participants during the 3 dress rehearsals. I anticipate that the food will arrive between 4-5, and
then students will get a chance to eat when their group is not assigned to be on stage. This is a
wonderful service being provided to your child FOR FREE. We greatly appreciate Mr. Easterling
for his kindness and generosity!

WATER REQUESTED
We request that every student bring in a case of water of at least six bottles. Staying hydrated is
important for the students’ health—especially their vocal health!

Parents, thank you so much for your continued support – your help is much needed and greatly
appreciated!

Sincerely,
Mr. Doherty
COSTUMES FOR VARIETY SHOW
Note: ALL COSTUMES MUST BE COMPLETE AND WORN for all dress rehearsals and performances.

Costuming plays an important role in the Variety Show. It's provides the audience with an idea of
characterization, the time period, and enhances the visual effect of the performance. We are
giving you the opportunity to be creative and put together your own costume for each of the
segments: West Side Story, Billy Joel, and Rent. We have included on this form some guidelines
and some helpful websites that have pictures to give you ideas. We suggest you raid the closets
of your families and friends (with permission of course) and the racks of thrift stores. The goal is
to spend as little money as possible if any at all and utilize the many resources around you.

BE CREATIVE & HAVE FUN!!!
