There are consumers that demand for glass cookware for some of its key advantages.
It does not react with acidic foods, safely stores all foods in it, and most importantly it is
healthy as there are no adverse side effects from cooking in it. Many people like to watch the
food cook in glass cookware, as there is no need to remove the lid to see what is happening.
However, the major disadvantage of glass cookware is that it breaks. This cookware
crack if the glass is too brittle or if there is a weakness in the glass, or if there are rapid
changes in the temperature, and of course, like all glassware, it shatters if involved in any
serious collision or impact. Adding liquid to hot, dry glass cookware splits the glass and even
a simple chip on the rim prevents a good seal, allowing the steam to escape. Although glass is
a good conductor of heat, it fails to disburse it evenly, and therefore glass utensils are not at
all efficient for stovetop cooking, as they easily form hot spots causing the glass to crack.
Additionally, glass vessels are totally incompetent when it comes to deep-frying, as the food
necessitates constant stirring and longer cooking times.
These disadvantages pose a huge risk for the company to manufacture glass cookware
because glass products cannot provide high qualities such durability and efficiency. If the
glass products fail to comply with the safety and consumers’ need, the company will suffer
from losing credibility and trust.
A) Safety Considerations
Instead of glass, we can manufacture cookware that are made of ceramic, ceramic
cookware is clay cookware that’s kiln-baked to high heat, rendering the quartz sand surface
effectively non-stick. It provides the same non toxicity level because it is naturally non-stick
and does not leach or emit potentially harmful fumes.
Because the ceramic surface of each pan and pot offers a non-stick feature,
consumers don’t need to worry about an extensive clean-up process. Even if consumers burn
food in the pan, cleaning it requires a quick wipe of soap and warm water. Anything that does
get crusty can boil off with a little bit of water on the stove.
D) Affordability Considerations
You can purchase high-quality ceramic frying pots and pans for under $100 at most
retailers. It is not unusual for an entire set to be priced as low as $50 if you’re willing to work
with an off-brand manufacturer. Individual cooking items might be in the $10 to $20 range if
you need a replacement item.
E) Efficiency Considerations
Consumers can use ceramic cookware as food containers and do not worry about
any unwanted metals, minerals, or materials leeching into their food when storing it
overnight. That means they can avoid having plastics around their favourite items while
saving some on their kitchen needs.
3) Planning Process
Another product means another project, and needed another set of employees that
specialized manufacturing of ceramic based products. New equipment and additional staff are
also needed to sustain all the processes. This includes new budget guides, strategic plans,
tactical plans, operating plans and project plans for future activities.
4) Design Process
After identifying the problem and possible modifications, the company needs to
research, establish criteria and constraint, select an approach, develop a design proposal,
make a model or prototype, test, evaluate, refine the design then implement it.
5) Procurement Process
Manufacturing new products will need new suppliers and services or works from an
external source. The company will conduct tendering or competitive bidding process. It
involves making buying decisions under conditions of scarcity.
6) Control Process
The company will establish standards for employees to measure performance and
actual performance, and compare it with the standards and if any has performed below
average, the managers will take corrective actions.
7) Reviews Assessment
Record every feedback from the consumers and evaluate them to create future
considerations for modification. Assessing feedbacks is important for continuous
improvement of the designs of the product and future projects of the company.
