Title: Literacy Instruction in English

Objective:
1. To understand the nature of reading
2. To understand how to raise learner’s phonological awareness as foundational skill to
decoding
3. To understand how to teach phonics and word recognition for successful decoding skills

Venue: MARAMAG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Date: February 17, 2021

Expected Participants: 7 teachers, 1 School Head, 1 LGU paid teacher

Actual Participants: 7 teachers, 1 school head, 1 LGU paid teacher

Activities:

 Prayer and Nationalistic Song


 Giving of the rationale of the activity
 video presentation on the nature of reading, understanding how to raise learner’s
phonological awareness as foundational skill to decoding and understanding how to
teach phonics and word recognition for successful decoding skills

Significant Learning:

The LAC Session started with a prayer and a nationalistic song which was followed right
away with the giving of the rationale of the activity.

This was followed with the video presentation on the different sessions on the English
Literacy Instruction. Afterwhich, the school head gave each teacher reflective questions to
examine how well the participants understood the lessons.

The participants takeaway on the sessions was they were refreshed with the different
teaching strategies to develop the reading skills of the learner.
