Beans Deshelling Machine

5Technical Field

The present utility model relates to a deshelling machine and more

particularly to a deshelling machine for roasted beans and similar commodity.

Background Art

10 Deshelling machine are known in the art. Existing deshelling machine

apply pressure to the pods progressively and in such manner as to split the

pods and squeeze the peas or beans from them. One of the difficulties of this

plan of operation is that if made large enough in diameter to readily catch the

pods the rolls are apt to crush the peas or beans, while if made small enough

15in diameter to do their work without this crushing the rolls frequently fail to

properly catch or take hold of the pods and the machine clogs. As a means of

obviating this difficulty the present improvement contemplates providing one

or more of the shelling-rolls with crossed helical threads, which will serve to

catch the pods and draw them between the rollers. In its most approved form

20such screw-threads will be provided by grooving the roller helically in opposite

directions and then winding a wire in each of the grooves, so that it will be

held firmly against the displacement, but will project out of the grooves far

enough to form distinct ribs which will cross each other at frequent intervals in

a diamond pattern well calculated to catch the surface of the pod. The

25opposing rolls may be provided with such crossed screw-threads; but a very
satisfactory feeding action may be obtained if only one of the rolls is thus

constructed, especially if the opposing roll be made of rubber or provided with

a resilient yielding surface. In any case the feeding-in or shelling rolls proper

will be of small diameter, usually not over one inch or thereabout, and will be

5mounted to rotate in opposite directions and with their adjacent surfaces quite

close together or actually in contact with each other.

In the approved construction herein shown the upper of the two

shelling-rolls is provided with crossed screw threads of the character above

mentioned, while the lower roll is smooth, but has its surface covered with

10rubber or like elastic substance capable of yielding to lit, as it were, the screw-

threaded surface of the upper roll. One of these two rolls the upper one as

herein shown is yieldingly mounted with respect to vent it has been found

advisable to modify and sharply provide only one roller with plurality of spines

to accurately cause the breakage of the pods of beans, and thus more readily

15permit the egress of the peas or beans from the pods.

Object of the Utility Model

It is therefore the primary object of the present utility model to provide a

20deshelling machine for beans and similar commodity that separates the

shelled beans to its pods by siphoning.

2
Another object of the present utility model is to provide a deshelling

machine for beans that uses deshelling cylinder with plurality of spines to

crack the beans pods.

Another object of the present utility model is to provide a deshelling

5machine for beans that uses deshelling pads with plurality of spines to aid the

deshelling cylinder in cracking the beans pods.

Another object of the present utility model is to provide a deshelling

machine for beans that uses fan for siphoning pods as a process in

separating the pods from its nibs.

Detailed Descriptions of the Preferred Embodiments

20

Figure 1.0 generally illustrate the embodiment of a beans deshelling

machine comprising of a hopper (1), deshelling chamber (2), winnowing

3
chamber (3), and discharging system (4). The hopper (1) is disposed on the

top of the deshelling chamber (2), wherein the bean commodity is lodge for

deshelling process. The deshelling chamber (2) is disposed on the top of the

winnowing chamber (3) which cracks the shell of the beans. The winnowing

5chamber (3) is disposed on the top of support stand (5).

Figure 2.0 generally illustrate the deshelling chamber (2) of beans

deshelling machine that is contained in a rectangular shaped casing

comprising of a cylinder (6) and pad (7). The said cylinder (6) is a round

shaped alloy that contains plurality of bolts (8) that is randomly situated in the

10surface of the said cylinder (6). The said cylinder is aided to crack the pod of

the roasted bean by the pad (7). The said pad (7) is situated side directly

parallel to the rotation of the cylinder (6). The said pad (7) is provided with

adjuster (9) to adjust its distance to the cylinder (6) which is attached passing

the wall of the deshelling chamber (2). The said pad also contain plurality of

15bolts (10) fixed in random position.

Figure 3.0 illustrates the winnowing chamber (3) of the beans

deshelling machine which is disposed on the top of the support stand (5). The

said winnowing chamber (3) composed of plurality of plates (11) alternately

attached to the walls winnowing chamber (3) and radial fan (12). The said

20plurality of plates (11) alternately attached to the walls winnowing chamber (3)

are titled downward is used to clean the bean by separating it from hull by

zigzag movement of the shelled beans falling downward. The said radial fan

(12) is attached in a shaft (13) that is passing through the walls of winnowing

4
chamber (3) and stabled by the used of block bearing (14). The said shaft (13)

is driven by a pulley (15) that is connected to the primemover (16). The radial

fan (12) suctions the hulls towards the outlet funnel (17) positioned frontal

side of beans deshelling machine. The shelled beans that passes through

5plurality of plates (9) directly move to its funnel outlet (18) position at the lower

part of the winnowing chamber (3).

The discharging channels of the beans deshelling machine is

separately provided for the pods and beans. The discharging channel (18) for

the beans is positioned at the base of the winnowing chamber (3). The

10discharging channel (17) of the pods is position on the side of beans

deshelling machine. The said discharging channel (17) for pods is provided

with plurality of holes (19) on the top of the inverted V shaped channel to

facilitate the suction of pods towards the outlet (20).

roasted beans in a single pass comprising of base member, a

deshelling chamber disposed in the winnowing chamber, winnowing

5 chamber disposed between the deshelling chamber and stand frame, a

hopper disposed on the top of deshelling chamber, a shell discharging

channel attached perpendicularly to the winnowing chamber and a

shelled roasted bean funnel disposed below the winnowing chamber

wherein the deshelling chamber comprises of reversibly moving rollers

10 that contains plurality of bolts randomly situated in the its surfaces

attached individually to circular rods which is connected to pulleys

position in exterior portion of the deshelling chamber body connected

to the pulley position in the plate attached in the upper corner of the

deshelling chamber body and to the pulley positioned in the side of the

15 winnowing chamber body to the primemover position in the base of the

stand frame using fan belt.

Abstract

The beans deshelling machine was provided to solve the high percentage

of broken beans during shelling. The use deshelling cylinder with plurality of

spines and fan for siphoning pods was done to solve the glitch. The present

5beans deshelling machine comprising of a hopper, deshelling chamber,

winnowing chamber, and discharging system characterized by the plurality of

bolts which is randomly fix and situated in the surfaces of cylinder and pad

that is provided with unequal distance to the cylinder from its pad base to its

tip to the that facilitate the removal of pods of roasted beans and avoids the

10damage in the beans during deshelling operation and efficiently removes the

pods of the roasted beans in a single pass.
