Step 1 - Your Topic

The theme that interest me the most is about Family Counceling. This is due to the
fact that every household in our community especially in this time of pandemic are
facing so much problems and difficulties in life.

Step 2 - Your Thesis Statement

The family is societys fundamental unit. In my protfolio you will understand how tthe
relationship of the family members work, to set an example to help close the void that
certain families are experiencing and also able to relate to one another in a positive
way.

Step 3 - Introduce Your Portfolio

Family is the bond that connects you by blood and maternal bonding since the child
was born from his or her mother, as well as their father, who protects and supports
them in a variety of ways. This portfolio is all about “Family Counseling for a Great
Community”. Family counseling is a form of psychotheraphy that concentrates on
families and couples in close relations, in confidence of bringing positive change and
growth. In the midst of pandemic many familys are struggling nowadays. I also
experience this kind of problem. Many of the family members are also finding a
solutions to solve the problem. This portfolio is so much related to our subject which
is Community Engagement, Solidarity and Citizenship. It talks about how the
community works and how we able to understand the role of the society.

Step 4 - Purpose

I choose this topic its due to the fact that In every household there is a type of bond
may be as strong as steel or as rusted as a damaged iron sheet. Due to the risk of
conflict, we need to strengthen and help revive this relationship through family
counseling in order to help the group bond even more. Family Counseling is very
important in many families and homes for several reasons. It helps many families with
communication issues. The purpose of family counseling is to help families work
through struggles, challenges, and tough times in a way that doesn’t simply have the
problem go away, but makes the family stronger.

Step 5 - Describe Your Portfolio

The following are the specified Family Counseling objectives: Establish and
strengthen family relationships, create a nurturing atmosphere for the whole family
and family members will have different viewpoints on a given subject but this will not
be the source of their disagreement. The program's anticipated outcomes are stated
that it will be able to witness a well-connected and compassionate family that can help
unite the community and encompass goodwill in this hellish of a pandemic we’re all
facing, as a result of good parenting the child will experience good manners, spending
quality time with family will result a positive impact on one's well being. Family
counseling has several goals, the most common goalis to help families undestand how
their family functions work. The second goal is to detect the strengths and weaknesses
within the family unit. Another common goal is to improve communication skills
within the family system and help everyone communicate and understand each
individuals emotion. By administering a program in our commuinity this will assist in
making a connection that some families are experiencing. Ofcourse we should still
apply safety protocols in this time of pandemic. Distancing one's loved ones is a tragic
situation that only gets worse the longer it continues in one's family. It can also assist
those who are not in such a situation by strengthening their existing family
relationship, resulting in a more intimate and caring atmosphere. With the help of the
Barangay Council and Committees, Pastoral Counselling Association of the
Philippines and espcially the Family Therapist. Every family will experience and
deserves in a loving and caring environment. The benefits in the community of this
are will improve communication within the family unit, building self esteem, mental
and physical health and coping skills when life changes takes place.

The possible challenges that I will encounter will be that families will felt ashamed to
attend, they might be afraid to open up their problems, it may also be the reason to
cause the trouble and instead of improving it only got worse. If ever this will happen
the first thing I will do is to do my best to understand their situation, second I will
make a good impression, third I will come up with a solution that will interest them
and lastly I will explain to them on how important this family counseling in our
community.

Time to reflect!

1. As I was preparing the SWOT analysis I’ve realized that it is important that
families have a better communication towards each other so they will able to
understand each members situation. The SWOT analysis have advantages and
disadvantages, but if it understand it well and apply proper measures, it will be
more possible that the outcome woul be positive.
2. Consulting to a family counseling will be able to resolve the conflicts that they
are facing and also to have a stable mental, physical and emitional health.

Step 7- Reflection

I have learned that the word familyfamily is not just about our parents and siblings at
home. As people get older they tend to experience pain and sorrow if they hear the
word family. They have no idea when the downpour began or why it is occurring in
this manner, all they know is that the home they once considered no longer feels like
home. As a result, it is important to form a strong bond with your family in order to
maintain a positive relationship with them. As a member of the community we must
pay attention to it, not to gossip other people’s problem but to solve this kind of
problem with a proper consultation and in a right way. This type of concept will help
influence people to understand, get new knowledge, reduces stess and resolve conflict
with regard for the individuality of each family member in our community. Im glad
that I able to think of this concept because as a HUMSS student, a upcoming student
of BS in Psychology and future Psychologist this will be a very big help to me and
especially to other people that are struggling and facing difficulties during this time of
pandemic.

The concept paper is very important part of preparing my portfolio because this will
allow me to integrate my thoughts, ideas, knowleldge, and my research into one
concrete paper that presents my awareness of social events and my contribution to
the society as a HUMSS student.
