Abstrat
The present investigation provide a comparative account of the effect of chemical mutagens of different
concentrations of EMS, SA and NMU on mitotic aberrations, seed germination, seedling survival, plant height
and mitotic index in Horse gram [Macrotyloma uniflorum Lam. (Verdcourt)]. Among all the mutagens, EMS
was found to be more effective for the induction for chromosomal aberrations, seed germination and survival
percentage of seedling than to SA and NMU Mitotic index and· other parameter reduced gradually as the
different concentration of mutagen increased. The cytological study revealed various types of mitotic
· aberrations among them dominant were fragments, stickiness, precocious movement, laggards, bridges, macro
and micronuclei more frequents.

Key words: EMS, SA, NMU, Horse gram, Mitotic index, Mitotic aberrations.
