CHINA PANORAMA ASSIGNMENT

Morocco’s most widely celebrated festivals are Islamic, the focus

on food, family and community (plus legendary Moroccan

hospitality) makes it easy for anyone to get involved in the

celebrations.Moroccans celebrate a number of Muslim and

national festivals during the year. Most of their religious holidays

are measured using the lunar calendar. Fasting, dancing, and

feasting are all possible during holidays, depending on the type of

holiday being observed. Regardless of how long the Muslim

festivals last, they are observed by all Islamic residents. This may

not be simple because, for example, Ramadan lasts a month and

requires participants to fast and refrain from sexual activity during

that time. While there are too many festivals and holidays This

Islamic holy month of daytime fasting and contemplation is widely

observed in Morocco. If you travel during this period you’ll find

locals more subdued and streets quiet during the daytime  The

experience of enjoying iftar (the daily meal that breaks the fast)

with locals is truly special and the celebratory nature of the

evenings makes this a unique time of the year. While technically a

part of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr deserves its own mention as the

incredible feasting party that concludes the Islamic holy month and

breaks the fast for good. While many businesses will be closed, try

and score an invite to a family or community gathering for a unique

party.

1. Traditional Festivals and Culture

Festival is a specific manifestation of culture in the field of life and

a form of culture. Traditional festivals in different countries are

closely related to their own culture. As the representation of

traditional culture at the level of national behavior, traditional

festivals in various countries are deeply rooted in their own

cultural connotations.

Both Chinese and Moroccan traditional festivals contain the

cultural spirit. The so-called cultural spirit, popularly speaking, is a

positive component of the national culture, which can fully reflect

the ideas and concepts of the national spirit. The cultural spirit of

Chinese traditional festivals mainly contains patriotic thoughts,

striving for self-improvement and unity . However Traditional

Moroccan festivals mainly include the Islamic , religious beliefs of

Moroccan people.

As a variation example Moroccan’s new year celebration is not

considered a special festival as in Chinese culture we do not have

much rituals or special customs during that period, in contrary the

annual New Year is the most important festival of the year for the

Chinese people.they have to prepare a lot of work for the new

year, usually called busy years. the atmosphere of New Year

began to fill the streets and alleys. In order to have a prosperous

New Year, people have entered a period of intense preparation

and sprint, purchasing new clothes hang new year pictures, and

set off firecrackers while in Morocco Some like to party all night in

nightclubs and bars, while others prefer to stay at home with

families and friends.

Studying the similarities and differences between Chinese and

Moroccan traditional festivals can help us understand the history,

customs and cultural essence of China and Morocco. It has very

important guiding significance in cultural exchanges
