The DMM dosing pumps feature diaphragm dosing head
with suction and discharge ball valves.
The diaphragm stroke is generated by an external, fan-
cooled motor via a worm gear in an oil-lubricated
gearbox.
The capacity is set on the gearbox knob. DMM-AR also
offers setting via its control unit.
Thanks to its user-friendly control panel with soft-touch
buttons and display, DMM-AR also offers easy access to
a large number of pump operating modes and setting
possibilities.
Standard features of the DMM-AR pump are inputs for
pulse, analog 0/4-20 mA and dual-level control, a start/
stop input as well as an alarm output.
DMM-AR is fitted with power cable and plug.

On DMM-B, the capacity is set by setting the stroke
length on the gearbox knob. As shown in the figure
below, the stroke frequency is constant while only the

Functional description, DMM-AR


On DMM-AR, the capacity can be set both by setting the
stroke length on the gearbox knob and the stroke fre-
quency on the control unit. The control unit controls the
stroke frequency by starting and stopping the motor ac-

cording to the set stroke frequency. The figure below
shows two examples:
1. The pump is running at 100% capacity at maximum
stroke length and stroke frequency.
2. The pump is running at 25% capacity at 50% stroke
length and 50% stroke frequency.

The control panel has two green indicator lights for operation and external control, one red indicator light for alarm, one
3-digit multifunctional display and four buttons for settings. The inputs for remote stop, low-level indication and external
control are located below the display.

Start/stop of pump cation operation. In the case of division operation, the


number of received input pulses is shown. The indicator

To select the operating mode, press the button Mode.

Manual control
The pump is dosing constantly according to the set
stroke length. Thanks to its control panel, DMM-AR also
offers setting of the stroke frequency.
INT appears in the display, and after releasing the button
Mode, the set stroke frequency is shown. The latter can
be modified using buttons  and. The value is
changed at an increasing speed with the button pressed.

Pulse control
Applies to DMM-AR
The pump is dosing according to an external pulse
signal, e.g. from a water meter.
The numbers of pump strokes per pulse (multiplication)
can be set between 1:1 and 1:64 and the numbers of
pulses per stroke (division) between 64:1 and 2:1.
After releasing the button Mode, the number of strokes
still to be carried out is indicated in the case of multipli-

Complete hot injection valve kit with shut-off valve, pipe

Accessories Multifunction valve

Multifunction valve
Compact valve unit for direct mounting on the pump
discharge connection. The valve has four functions:
1. Constant counter-pressure.
The valve keeps the counter-pressure constant at 1.5
bar to optimise the dosing accuracy when dosing into
systems with fluctuating pressure or pressure-less
systems.
2. Anti-siphoning.
The valve prevents undesired siphoning when the
pump inlet pressure is higher than or equivalent to

the discharge pressure.
3. Pump protection.
The valve protects the pump against excessive pres-
sure by releasing the pressure in the pump head
when the discharge pressure exceeds 11 bar.
4. Manual pressure relief.
When the right knob is pulled, the pressure in the
pump head is relieved for priming or degassing.
When both knobs are pulled at the same time, the
pump head and the discharge line are relieved.
Relief pressure: 11 bar
Counter-pressure: 1.5 bar.

Accessories Flow indicator

Flow indicator
The flow indicator is used for discharge monitoring.
When the dosing pump is discharging liquid, the white
ball will jump in the transparent pipe. Each dosing stroke
causes a ball jump. The flow indicator is designed so that
ball movements can be seen at flow rates from 0.1 to 45
l/h.
At a steady flow, the ball will always be in the top posi-
tion.
The flow indicator installs and retrofits easily.

Complete assembly of either:

Counter-pressure and relief valve
The pump discharge line is connected between the two
valves. One valve works as a counter-pressure valve opti-
mising dosing accuracy when dosing into systems with
fluctuating pressure or as anti-siphoning valve when

dosing into pressureless systems.
The outlet of the other valve is connected to the tank,
and the valve thus works as a pressure relief valve or a
safety valve protecting the pump and the discharge line
against excessive pressures.
Relief and shut-off valve
The pump discharge line is connected between the two
valves. The outlet of the counter-pressure valve is con-
nected to the tank, and the valve thus works as a pres-
sure relief valve or a safety valve protecting the pump
and the discharge line against excessive pressures. 
The shut-off valve can be used for interrupting the dos-
ing temporarily without stopping the pump. If the shut-
off valve is closed, the relief valve will return the dosed
liquid to the tank.
Valve diaphragm material: PTFE.
Pressure range of counter-pressure and relief valve: 
0-10 bar.

Pulsation dampener
The pulsation dampener can be installed both in the
suction and the discharge line for reducing pressure
surges, thereby ensuring a steady flow. The dampener is
particularly suitable for long discharge lines and/or lines
with a small diameter.
Installed in the discharge line, the dampener can be used
for optimising dosing accuracy and for protection of
pump and discharge line against pressure surges.

Accessories Priming aid

Priming aid
The priming aid is a transparent, air-tight collector with
a screw cap on top. It is mounted between the tank and
the pump. The inlet from the tank and the outlet to the
pump are both in the bottom of the collector.
The priming aid is supplied with a bracket for wall
mounting and a rod for mounting on top of the tank.
The priming aid has following functions:
• Priming.

To facilitate priming in case of frequent stops and/or
high suction lifts by eliminating or reducing the dry-
suction phase.
• Gas trap.
Gas occurring in the suction line is trapped in the top
of the priming aid to prevent it from entering the
pump head.
• Pulsation dampening.
The dampening gas cushion in the top of the priming
aid reduces pressure surges, resulting in optimum
dosing accuracy and reduced risk of cavitation.

Electric mixer
Electric mixers ensure homogeneous mixing of the
chemical solution in the tank. Mixing is essential for dis-
solving difficulty dilutable powder additives or liquid
additives. The mixer is equipped with a single or three-
phase motor, an mixer shaft connected directly to the
motor shaft and a three-blade mixing propeller.
The selection of the mixer size depends on whether
readily-soluble substances, or permanently poorly mis-
cible emulsions or insoluble suspensions are to be stabi-
lised. The latter require higher power input and, if

necessary, continuous operation instead of intermittent
operation.
The mixer must be protected against dry-running. If the
mixer is mounted on a Grundfos tank, a mounting
bracket must be used, see page 47.

Sealing flange
When mixing aggressive liquids, the use of a sealing
flange for protection of the motor is recommended. The
sealing flange is made of polypropylene and sealed with
TM01 9806 3200

a V-ring. It fits 0.09 and 0.12 kW mixers.

Water meter
In-line water meter with potential-free pulse signal for
use in flow-proportional dosing applications.
Meters from Qn 1.5 to Qn 2.5 are of the multi-jet, dry dial
type for cold water up to +30°C or hot water up to +90°C.
Meters from Qn 15 are of the helical vane type for cold
water up to +50°C or hot water up to +120°C.
Max. pressure: 16 bar.
If the water meter is to be connected directly to the
pump pulse input, a control plug should be used, see also
page 26.
