1 SCOPE
This procedure describes the resistance welds that are performed as part of the FSM
corrosion monitoring system installation. The objective for this procedure is to ensure that the
welds are performed correctly to ensure a sound weld between the current feeding cables
and the current feeding points.
The current feeding points are 6mm studs that are welded to the monitored structure. This is
described in a separate welding procedure specification [3].
The welding specification as described is defined in the standard EN ISO 15609-5:2004 [1].
Note: The current feeding points are not load bearing welds, hence no WPS or WPQR
as specified in the standard is produced.

3 RESPONSIBILITY
The responsibility for execution of all work regarding this procedure lies with Roxar ASA.
Roxar ASA will keep complete records of qualifications and test forms related to procedures
for FSM installations. These documents will be part of the “as built” documentation.
4 SAFETY
Only personell trained and/or qualified by Roxar ASA shall perform the welding as described
in this procedure.
For general safety guidelines, see Roxar HES procedure B-1340 [4].
5.1 Purpose
The purpose of this procedure is to ensure that the equipment used for resistance welding
(SIP Professional Spotmatic P2PT) is used in such a way that the weld is good and solid.
The weld is performed between a ferrule [6] that is soldered to the cable ends [7] and a
Ø6mm split stud [5]. The weld must ensure good and lasting electrical connection.
5.2 Validity
This procedure is valid for all qualified personell using the spot welder for welding where this
procedure is specified. Spot welder to be used is SIP Professional Spotmatic P2PT.
6 METHOD
6.1 Purpose
The purpose of this section is to describe welds to be performed between the current
excitation and the current excitation studs on the FSM system. The purpose of the welds is to
ensure good and lasting electrical contact between these items.
The procedure shall secure that the spot-welder is used in such a way that good welds are
achieved between the Ø6mm machined stud and the cable soldered ferrule.
6.2 Validity
This procedure is valid for all qualified persons using the spot-welder for welding where this
procedure is specified. Spot-welder to be used is type M22.
• Check the function of the welder and make sure electrodes are completely clean.
• Place the Ferrule into the slot in the stud according to figure 5. Note that cable ferrule
shall be horizontal and not vertical as it is shown.
• Adjust the welder with the pieces to be welded as shown in figure 2. The distance D
shall be 40mm.
• Adjust the welding time to 0,7 seconds.

The quality of the concrete weld is verified manually by bending the ferule 10 degrees in two
directions.
All welds are subjected to resistance measurements in accordance with procedure F656-
16959-I-PF-0070 FSMLog Installation Procedure.
