A. Stability vs. Change

If I were to choose between the two; stability vs. change, I would choose Change. Who
wouldn’t want to change? We all know that people really change, for the betterment of
themselves. When things go wrong or something bad happens to us, we immediately think of
what we will do to change what is happening to us. Change plays a great role to everyone.
Change pushes us out of our comfort zone.

Stability, in the other hand is not bad at all. Stability may be stable on a short time scale
while change is over a long time scale. Change gives us a different perspective and allows us to
embrace new beginnings. Change may teach us to adapt and create resilience, but only if we
recognize our own growth and learning ability. These changes will teach you something new,
whether they appear to be positive and negative at the moment.

B.

1. Does the article agree that heredity, environment, and individual’s choice are the factors that
contribute to what a person may become? Why or why not? State the paragraph that tells so.
- The article agrees that heredity, environment, and individual’s choice are the factors
that contribute to what a person may become. As the article states that “We are the way we are
because it’s in our genes.” We may get the sickness that other family members have gotten
because it’s in our genes. In my case, my family, on my mother’s side have cancer. This explains
that in our family, our genes are prone to cancer.

Also in the article “We turn out the way we do because of our childhood experiences. Or
our health and well-being stem from the lifestyle choices we make as adults.” We became this
way because we wanted to. Some of us became mature at an early age because of the traumas
that we had experienced before. The environment that we have mold us to what we are today.

2.
Yes, the word PERMANENTLY convinced me that I am what I am today because of my
first experiences. My mother told me before that my doctor told her that I am asthmatic, but
there are no signs of me being asthmatic because I am a healthy child. As years go by, I became
asthmatic. I may not show some signs before but I always had trouble breathing because of my
first experience. Our first experience taught us about how we will handle a certain situation that
we have, and also to what we are today.

We may not have the same first experiences, some of us may have good first experience
and bad experience but that doesn’t change the fact that these experiences lead us to what we
are today. These experiences taught us to be strong, and determined. Others also may have
trouble mentally, physically, and spiritually. We may not have seen all of the struggles that they
have been through but these are likely the reason for the person that we are right now.
