To whom it may concern,

This letter is to officially certify that THINAGARAN MUTTHUSAMY is a Global Schools Advocate on behalf of the
Global Schools Program, an initiative of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
From September 2021 - January 2022, THINAGARAN MUTTHUSAMY will serve as an official, local representative
of the program and work to integrate education for sustainable development into lessons and activities within their
school in Malaysia. Please see their name on our website to verify their status.

Global Schools is an initiative of the SDSN in support of UNESCO’s Global Action Program on Education for
Sustainable Development (ESD). Approximately 300 educators from 75+ countries were selected out of 2,135
applicants to become Global Schools Advocates. They completed one month of rigorous training on crucial aspects of
Sustainable Development and ESD. These dedicated teachers and educators are responsible for localizing and
integrating global citizenship, sustainability, and 21st-century skills into school communities. They will provide
students with the knowledge, values, and skills required to work towards a sustainable and prosperous world.
The primary responsibilities of the Advocates include:
1. Complete the online training.
Advocates participated in a training program to develop their understanding of sustainable development,
Global Schools, and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
2. Introduce ESD to their school.
Advocates will be given various suggested activities, resources, letters, and a workshop guide in order to
introduce ESD to their students, department, and school leadership.
3. Integrate ESD activities in classrooms and/or school community.
Advocates received a toolkit to guide them in developing a long-term strategy to implement ESD in their
classrooms and/or school. Advocates are not required to implement a defined curriculum.
4. Share their Journey.
Advocates will be tasked with sharing their experiences with Global Schools and other Advocates. They can
also share initiatives with school leadership, parents, and the greater community.
5. Encourage their respective schools to sign the Global Schools Pledge.
Advocates are encouraged to invite their schools to sign the Global Schools Pledge on the website and join the
Global Schools Educators’ network.

We look forward to building a better world together and supporting Advocates on this journey. Please reach out to
globalschools@unsdsn.org with any inquiries.

Sincerely,
