I. Directions: Examine the function of each element in communication process then answer
the questions that follow.

1. What are the elements of communication?

- The elements of communication are Sender, Receiver, Message, Medium, Feedback, Context, and
Noise.

2. What are the barriers to communication?

- The barriers to communication are Language Barriers, Personal Barriers, Organizational


Barriers, and Psychological Barriers.

3. Describe the process of communication illustrated above.(Tell each function of the elements)

- The sender will decode, create an idea, or request that is composed of message. The channel is
the tool how the message will get to the receiver. The message cannot be clear if there are noise
during communication. The receiver will decode the message of the sender and acquired
information then provide feedback that the receiver will encode based from the message of the
sender. The receiver will be the sender and the sender will be the receiver. The receiver’s
feedback go through the medium or channel of the communication. The sender will receive the
feedback then decodes it and acquired information based from the feedback of the receiver.

4. How did the barriers affect the feedback?

- The barriers affect the feedback in the way that the receiver will decode the message of the
receiver, there will be a misunderstanding or incorrect meaning which affects the feedback of the
receiver because of how the receiver misunderstood the message of the sender.

5. What is your view toward body language and facial expressions as non-verbal forms of
communication?

- My view in non-verbal forms of communication like body language and facial expressions is it’s
important to all of us to understand it because even we’re not talking in non-verbal
communication we can still understand everybody’s reaction and feelings or emotion based from
how they act and based from their facial expression.

6. What does the video raise about the complexity of communication in multicultural setting?

- The video shows that even they are belong in different cultures and ethnicities, they still show
that they respect each other by the way they move, act, and in their facial expression. The video
also shows that every one of them know the rules of the culture of other culture from how they
welcome their visitors.

7. As you think about the video, why should we be mindful about how we communicate
effectively in a multicultural setting?

- We should be mindful in how we communicate effectively in a multicultural setting because


when we are mindful and we studied their culture we already show them respect. We can
communicate effectively in a multicultural setting by knowing their beliefs and even their simple
dialect of them giving them the respect and dignity.

8. How can you be able to promote effective communication at home and at school? Explain your
answer by citing instances/examples.
- I can promote effective communication at home and at school by telling every family
member or my classmates what dialect or language we’ll use in speaking to
understand by all of them and avoiding jargon when talking to each students or
members of the family to avoid confusion so we clearly understand the message
without encountering any barrier in communication in my home and at school.
