Read and then answer to the following questions:

a. Explain the key features of continuous improvement (kaizen).

Features of the continuous improvement (kaizen):

 It must be a continuous, progressive, and endless process since it is more a state of
search (of perfection) than a goal in itself.
 Although it was originally created for the manufacture of products and service delivery,
it is currently being incorporated into all activities carried out and at all levels.
 It involves the entire organization, from senior leadership and managers to employees
at the operational level.
 It requires the encouragement, motivation, and commitment of all those involved, this
allows the goals and objectives of the organization to be easily achieved.
 It must take into account most of the needs, tastes, and requirements of the client.
 You need employees to have knowledge of the expected characteristics of the products
and services offered, as well as what is expected of their work so that they fully
understand the customer's demands.
 The company that implements the improvement process must accept the challenges
that a continuous improvement process implies, have the flexibility, and be open to
making the necessary changes.
 It implies an investment not only in human resources (constant training, research, and
development of new methodology) but also in advanced technology and more efficient
infrastructure.
b. Outline two advantages of kaizen.

1. Correct mistakes, improve weaknesses, and strengthen strengths, with visible results
in the very short term.

2. Allow positive changes in vision and attitude in employees, concentrating their energy
on actions that generate value and increasing their commitment to accept new
challenges on a daily basis.
c. Outline two disadvantages.

1. When improvement is concentrated in a specific area of the organization, the

perspective of the interdependence that exists between all members of the company
is lost.
2. It requires a change in the entire organization since to obtain success the participation
of all the members of the organization and at all levels is necessary.

d. Why is necessary to apply kaizen in all the organization?

Because the Kaizen method aims to maximize production by constantly improving the
business productive apparatus, reducing inefficiencies to increase the competitiveness of
the company in the market. For these reasons, it has become a benchmark in marketing
today.

 Continuous improvement in a company should be considered as an obligation and a

permanent habit among all staff.
 The excellent results obtained will contribute to making the company more efficient,
competitive, and innovative. Always at the forefront of service and quality.
