‘Knowledge comes from learning but wisdom comes from

living’
Good morning respected ma’am and my fellow classmates.
Today I present before you, my thoughts and opinions on the
topic ‘Wisdom comes from experience’.
It is truly said that the real wisdom is neither an inborn trait
nor an account written in any book. True wisdom comes with
experience of life. We learn and grow and become a better
person than we were yesterday. Progressing day by day,
moment by moment, learning from our mistakes, having the
courage to face them and making adjustments moving
forward based upon the knowledge acquired through those
experiences leads to true wisdom.
No matter how much knowledge we have of any particular
thing, the correct utility, full potential and true meaning of
that knowledge only comes with experience.
Let’s take the example of two doctors. There is this brilliant
medical intern who wins all the medical Olympiads, always
tops in medical school and is always praised for his ample
knowledge on the subject. And then there is this doctor in his
early 50’s who had studied medicine as an average student in
his time and has been now serving as a successful surgeon for
20 years.
Now suppose if you need to get a surgery, who would you
trust? The brilliant prodigal intern or the good old doctor?
Obviously, the doctor who has been practicing for years now.
But why? Wasn’t the intern more intelligent and bright?
The reason behind our decision in choosing the doctor with
20 years of experience is that, that he has the expertise as
well as the learning experience. No matter how much
knowledge the young intern had, the true wisdom was with
the old doctor who had knowledge as well as experience in
that field. So, that’s where the difference lies in knowledge
and wisdom.
We might have the knowledge and awareness of a particular
thing but wisdom is when we apply that knowledge to our
lives. A child is always told that the flame is hot and he
should not touch it otherwise it’ll burn his hand. He
knows the truth about the whole situation but is still
attracted by the light of the candle and crawls towards
it to hold it; but the moment he feels the sharp burning
sensation he comes to learn his lesson.
Mistakes are necessary in the learning process and
that’s how we gain experience. Mere knowledge about
things can’t keep us going, we also need experience to
turn that knowledge into wisdom.
So, basically, wisdom is the result of applying the
knowledge in real life situations and learning from
those experiences. Alone, knowledge is irrelevant but
with experience it becomes wisdom.
Thank you.
