Lecture thoughts Enterprise Architecture

The lecture starts off with what is an enterprise architecture. It is true that by architecture I thought of it
to be a plan or blueprint of buildings, like how building architecture make sites that the building is built
correctly the enterprise architecture enables agility of the organization. It is interesting how enterprise
architecture helps understand how systems are built and integrated correctly and help make decisions
in an organization. But does architecture come first, similar to buildings where architecture plan comes
first? From my understanding architecture comes after business idea and usually start thinking of
enterprise architecture as the complexity increases or as the business grows or when new business
models lead to new infrastructure or agility. Further into lecture we talk about the types of architecture,
globally integrated and globally standardized -I think apple corporation is a good example for this
architecture. I could relate a lot to the third type of architecture, locally isolated globally standardized
architecture-Mc Donald’s in India attracts different customers and the business strategies, or the
marketing strategies are different but standard Mc Donald’s functioning is same. Standardization an IT
organization has a lot of benefits and what I have learned from it is that enterprise and standards are
important for an organization. I have also learnt that for optimization to start off with global database to
realize integration benefits and modularization to enhance organization agility and cost. I also found
how standardization effects the uniqueness and flexibility very interesting.
