This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read the instructions
below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you
have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it was too
difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at school and that was frustrating.
  One of the reasons why I didn't study English before was because I didn't see the least
importance of it for my professional future.

 The second reason why I had not studied English before was because I did not have the time,
courage and willingness to learn this language since I was working.

 The third reason why I had not studied English before was because I did not have the
financial resources to study in a good language institute as I would have liked to do, so it
took me a long time to study this language again.

 Nor had I studied English before because I did not feel comfortable speaking English in front
of other colleagues and teachers, I am shy and I hardly like to speak in a foreign language.

 Finally, I had not studied English before because I have had bad experiences of learning with
this language, especially with authoritarian and imposing teachers who do not let their
student have self-study and try to do things on their own.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name and explain at least 5
things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a multinational company
offered me five years ago. One of the requirements was to speak English and my level back then
was very low.
  I had learned English; I would have been able to meet people from many parts of the world.

 If I had learned English before, I would have asked to get a visa to go for a walk to the United
States where several relatives live (are).

 If I had learned English a year ago, I would have been able to work at Teleperformance as a
bilingual call center consultant and be well paid.

 If I had learned English before, I would not have had to resort to SENA's virtual courses to learn
this language.

 If I had learned English before, I would have asked to get a visa to go for a walk to the United
States where several relatives.

B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the examples as models
of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)

Example:
I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my professional profile
becoming bilingual is essential.

Answer:
 I am studying English because I aspire to improve my professional skills in the future
within the company where I currently work.
 I am studying English because I finally got a girlfriend, but she speaks English and for that
reason I am learning to speak English.
 I am studying English because I need it to be able to aspire to a better position and salary
bonus inside or outside my company.
 To continue, I am studying English because I want to learn to function in a second
language.
  Finally, I am studying English because I want to travel the world and it is necessary to learn
this universal language at a minimum to be able to establish communications with other
people and ties of friendship.

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

Example:
Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a more satisfying and
better-paid job. We live in an international open market and English is the most important language.

Answer:
 Being competent in English is going to help me to meet more people in other countries of
the world.
 Being competent in English is going to increase my chances of getting the best jobs because
now companies need bilingual people.
 Being competent in English is going to help me travel to the United States and get my
VISA to go live with my cousin in Los Angeles.
 Being competent in English is going to increase the possibilities of studying specialization
is a country from abroad.
