6.1 Figure 6.1 depicts a person having mass 70kg standing on a cantilever beam having mass 100kg.
A is a pin and C is a frictionless pulley. Assuming that the system is in equilibrium,
1 a) draw a free body diagram for the person,
2 b) draw a free body diagram for the beam, and
2 c) draw a free body diagram for the pulley.

6.2 Figure 6.2 shows a bracket loaded with two forces and one couple. A is a roller, and B is a pin.

2 a) Draw the free body diagram for the bracket.

1 b) Compute the support reaction(s) at A.
2 c) Compute the support reactions at B.

6.3 An uniform bar ACB having mass 60kg supports a 600kg mass at point B as shown in Fig. 6.3.
A supporting cable is attached to the midpoint of the bar at point C.
2 a) Draw the free body diagram for the bar. Compute and show on your diagram the angle of
inclination θ of the supporting cable.
1 b) Compute the tension T in the supporting cable.
2 c) Compute the horizontal and vertical components of the reaction at pin A.

6.4 A beam is loaded as that shown in Figure 6.4. A is a pin and B is a roller.
2 a) Draw a free body diagram for the beam.
1 b) Compute the support reaction(s) at B.
2 c) Compute the horizontal and vertical reactions at A.
