countries
Event Objectives ● For countries to compare and discuss Planning-
related challenges and approaches to achieving
the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at
local level.

● To compare how Planning is being used to


implement the SDGs at the local level in different
countries, as well as the challenges which are
faced.

● To help to foster youth engagement and


mobilisation on sustainable development issues.

● To educate young people on the role of Planners


in the ‘Decade of Action’ and making the SDGs
happen.

Expected Outcomes ● High level insights into the variety of challenges


which are experienced in different parts of the
globe for the achievement of the SDGs at local
level.

● Collaboration between countries on potential


solutions to enable the achievement of the SDGs
at local level.

● Identification of common challenges and cross-


cutting issues to be addressed if the SDGs are to
be achieved at the local level in different parts of
the world.

● For more young people from different parts of


the world to be educated, mobilised and
enthused regarding the achievement of the SDGs
at local level. This will be as a result of young
people attending and participating in the event,
as well as having a recording of the event
available to view afterwards.

● Highlighting next steps and further, more specific


subject matter to be explored in future CAP

events.

1:05 - 1:30pm SDG Comparisons Panel Will Steel to Chair and each panelist to
Session 1 (Nigeria, Canada give a 7 minute presentation on key
and Bangladesh) points and/or a case study regarding SDG
implementation in their country (visuals
and presentation slides optional).

Suggested running order:


1. Nigeria
2. Canada
3. Bangladesh
4 minutes for any questions or initial
follow-up discussion at the end.

1:30pm Live survey question 2 link to Malith Senevirathne to share the link to
be shared. the survey in the comments bar.

1:30 - 1:55pm SDG Comparisons Session 2 Afzal Azahari/Rene Yun to Chair and each
(Ghana, Malaysia and United panelist to give a 7-minute presentation
Kingdom) on key points and/or a case study
regarding SDG implementation in their
country (visuals and presentation slides
optional).

follow-up discussion at the end.

1:55 - 2:25pm SDG Comparisons Session 3 Samson Olanrewaju and Shahriyar


(all countries in an open Mohammed to Chair an open Q&A and
debate with Q&A) discussion session involving all panelists.

2:25 - 2:30pm Closing remarks and next Champa Maduranayagam to close the
steps. event and share the link to the Youth
Engagement Toolkit survey.
