One of the major bases to considered that an information contained in a web page is
credible, is the author. Information on the internet with a listed author is one indication of a
credible site (Davis, 2021). The fact that the author is willing to stand behind the information
presented (and in some cases, include his or her contact information) is a good indication that
the information is reliable. According to Libguides.cccua.edu, 2020, information contained in a
website is credible if it comes from peer-reviewed scholarly journals or works published by a
university press professional society or scientific publisher. Moreover, checking websites
credibility must be considered to have credible information. Lastly, users must also consider
the purpose of the document published and if it is updated by the author/publisher regularly.

AND UPDATED
1. Using keywords when searching for an information in web is significant as it allows users
to find the specific and reliable information they need for a certain topic. As I have
learned in this module, search engines use keyword to find websites with documents prior
to what the user have type in the search box and this way of searching often leads to
large number of results and inappropriate information. Using keyword and some symbols
when searching leads to narrowed results making it easier to find information that is
more connected to the topic. I have also an observation that when I typed the question
(When do you say that an information contained in web pages is credible or not), websites
that appears are not that credible as there was no preferred domain in their links while
using keywords and symbols, websites that appear are credible with preferred domain in
their link.
2. The tips in conducting online research help me find the correct query results through
narrowing my topic and enables me to find credible websites with accurate and reliable
information. The tips in conducting online research reminds me to cite every information
I gathered from a reliable source to avoid copyright infringement.
3. The role of the domain in evaluating websites is to give users a clue to its credibility.
Domain names follow patterns established by domain name registering agencies and users
can use it to discern clues about the purpose and geographic origin of a websites.
What I can do:
The first thing that I have observed why this website is not a credible source of information is
the domain in the link/URL (OKD2.COM) which is a commercial domain. The domain of this
website is questionable to contain reliable information as a reason that biased is considerably
present within the article. Why did I say that the article is biased? Let us first observe the
author, the author of the article only put his name without any credential/affiliation that he is
a news writer of a paper publication. Second, the author doesn’t put any email, contact number
or the name of the publication he is working of, which means that he is not willing to stand
behind the information he has presented making the website untrusted. In this website we must
also considered and examine the left side part- (BLOG, NEWS, OPINION, TOP LIST)-. This
type of website has the possibility of being accessible to every user and therefore any one can
write a news/fake news or any information in this site. They can also use fake names to put as
an author of the article. Lastly, the objective why the article is published is notable – to
motivate user to buy product- because promoted content comes first than the content of the
article which means that the author wants the user to see the promoted content than the
information itself.
