(PBUH)
Birth and Upbringing
• Prophet Muhammad(SAW) was born in among
the Arabs to give suckling infants in charge of
Bedouin women, who would take care of
them. The Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H) was given in
charge of Halima. Mother of Prophet
Muhammad(SAW) was Aminah and his father
is Abdullah and grandfather is Abdul Muttalib
who took over the charge of his grandson
after the death of his parents.
Birth and Upbringing
• The Holy Prophet Muhammad(SAW) was the
last of Allah’s companion. He is termed as
Khatam-an-Nabbiyin. The primary meaning of
Khatam is a seal and the secondary meaning is
the end or the last part or portion of a thing.
• The process of revelation started with
Adam(A.S) and revelation was also received by
other messengers who preceded
Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H).
Birth and Upbringing
• It is clear that everything which has a
beginning must have an end and that when
there is no further need for a thing it should
cease to exit. Prophets were needed in each
age to purge(clean) the evil brought about by
human beings in the divine teachings and to
bring the religion of Allah by gradual evolution
to complete development.

• Honesty and Truthfulness
The Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H) proved by his example
that he was the most honest and truthful person,
and all the people in Makkah acknowledge this
fact. He was a poor orphan who started trading
and within a very short time due to his honest
and fair dealings with people, he came to be
known as Al-Sadiq, the truthful and Al-Amin the
trustworthy. Everyone in Makkah called him by
these names.

• His first wife Hazrat Khadija, married him because
of his excellent character. She was a rich widow
who would hire men to take her goods to other
countries on a profit sharing basis. When she
heard of Hazrat Muhammad’s(P.B.U.H) honesty
and trustworthiness, she asked him to take her
goods to Syria for trade. His trading in Syria
resulted in large profits for Hazrat Khadija. She
was so impressed by his honesty that she
proposed marriage to him.

• Humility
The Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H) was a very humble
person. He lived humbly all his life and never
boasted of his social or political status even after
his success at Madinah. There are many incidents
of his humility reported by his companions and
recorded in history books.
• Hazrat Anas(R.A) said that Allah’s messenger
used to visit the sick, accompany funerals and
accept the invitation of slaves.

• Forgiveness
A great quality of the Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H)
was that he never took revenge from anyone
and always forgave even his bitterest enemies.
Hazrat Aisha(R.A) said that Allah’s messenger
never returned evil for evil, but would always
forgive and pardon.

• Justice
• The Holy Prophet (P. B.U.H) was so just that even
the enemies of Islam had blind faith in his justice.
The first event which showed his ability to solve
the disputes with justice was of fixing of Black
Stone. The leaders of Quraysh were on the brink
of fighting but the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) solved
it in such a nice way that everyone got involved in
it and all of them were satisfied.

• Simplicity
• The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) was the head of
the state of Madinah, even than he spent a
very simple life. He lived in the small rooms
built with his Mosque. There was no luxury in
those rooms. He used to sleep on mat or on
the mattress of leather.

• Firmness and Determination
• He suffered physical and mental tortures but
nothing could shake his intentions. Once a
delegation of many Makkan leaders came to
Abu Talib and demanded him to stop
Muhammad from preaching but he said:

• “If they would place the sun in my right hand


and the moon in my left hand on the condition
that I abandon this course, I would never
abandon it, until Allah had made me victorious
or I die therein.”

• Fulfillment of promises
The Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H) always fulfilled his promise.
He was always held in such trust that people left their
valuables with him for safe keeping.

• When the king of Rome received a letter from the


Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H) inviting him to Islam, he called
the Arab traders who were then visiting his country. He
asked some questions about Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H)
from there leader Abu Sufyan, who was at that time,
one of the bitterest enemies of Islam. One of the
questions was whether the Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H) had
ever broken his promise. Abu sufyan replied that he
had never broken his promise.
Prophet hood and its Importance
• Prophethood is a special gift of Allah. These
chosen people guide the mankind.
Prophethood is one of the basic and most
important Faiths. Belief in Allah Almighty and
on all Prophets is compulsory. They provided
perfect guidance. Without obedience of the
Prophet, we cannot follow the guidelines for
success.
Significance of Prophethood
• Human beings need the guidelines of the
Prophet at every step of their lives. To inform
about unseen thing is the duty of Prophet. The
people who have been chosen by Allah
Almighty are called Prophets.
Understanding and Application
• The prophets provide the guidance to their
followers and they receive inspiration from
Allah. It is not possible for a Prophet that he
could misguide people in wrong doings and
guide them to worship others rather than
Allah.
• All revealed books and history of the world is
witness. All Prophets said to their nations, be
worshippers of Allah Almighty alone.

• Explainer of the Book:
In Surah Nehal (Ayat 44)
With clear signs and Books (we sent the
Messengers). And we have also sent down to
you (O Muhammad)(P.B.U.H) the Dhikr
reminder and the advice (i.e. the Quran), that
you explain clearly to men what is sent down
to them, and that they may give thought.

• Final decision maker and just laws giver:
In Surah Nisa(Ayat 65)
But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith,
until they make you (O Muhammad)(P.B.U.H)
judge in all disputes between them, and find in
themselves no resistance against your
decisions, and accept(them) with full
submission.

• The Teacher of Book and Wisdom:
In Surah Al-Imran( Ayat 164)
Indeed, Allah conferred a great favor on the
believers when He sent among them a Messenger
(Muhammad (P.B.U.H) from among themselves,
reciting to them His verse(the Quran) and
purifying them (from sins by their following him)
and instructing them in the book (the Quran) and
Al-Hikmah (the wisdom and the Sunnah of the
Prophet(P.B.U.H) (i.e his legal ways, statements
acts of worship), while before that they had been
in manifest error.

The Authority of Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H)
• The authority of the Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H)
has been mentioned and the law for the believers
has been described clearly. The authority of the
Prophet and decision of the Prophet is final regarding
wrong and right, lawful and unlawful must be right
and decent and whatever he announced to be
unlawful must be wrong and offensive because the
Holy Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H) is the final
authority.

• The Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) as
the final and the Prophet for the entire
universe:
Religion(deen) of Islam has been completed.
The Holy Quran is the last message of
Allah Almighty and
Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H) is the last
messenger of Allah Almighty, so there is no
need for further message.
• A Prediction about Prophet Muhammad(P.BU.H)

• Ahmed: Ahmed (P.B.U.H) is the person who


praised Allah Almighty.
• Muhammad: Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is the
person who is praised by the people.
Seal of Prophets
• The Holy Quran says: “Muhammad is not the
father of any men but he is the Messenger of
Allah and seal of Prophets.”[33:40]
• The word seal signifies that no one can be
added in the chain of Prophets after
Muhammad (P.B.U.H) as no word can be
added in a sealed document.
Seal of Prophets
• Our faith should be strong that
Muhammad(P.B.U.H) is the last and final
Prophet. Our faith and belief will be not
completed and accepted if we have any type
of doubt in our mind and heart. Believe in last
Prophet Muhammad(P.BU.H) is compulsory
and mandatory for everyone.
Tremendous Character

Our behaviors and moral values should be


good and according to sunnah of
Prophet(P.B.UH).
• The complete and perfect Deen(code for the
entire life):
In Surah Al-Maida (Ayat 03):
This day, I have perfected your religion for you,
completed my favor upon you, and have
chosen for you Islam as your religion(Deen)
Universal Prophethood

• The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) was also the


universal messenger of Allah. Unlike previous
Prophets his Prophethood was not specified
with limits of time and space. He was sent as
the messenger for all mankind and jinn.
• The Holy Quran says: “( O Prophet) O mankind
Indeed I am sent as the Messenger of Allah towards
all of you.”
The perfect Man and the best role
Model
• Muhammad(P.B.U.H) is the best role model for
believers so we should follow him. Our success
depends only to follow up his instructions and his
way of life in our day to day life.
• In Surah Saba(Ayat 27)
And We have not sent you (O Muhammad)(P.B.U.H)
except as a giver of glad tidings and a Warner to all
mankind, but most of men know not.
Mercy for mankind and the entire
universe
• Our behavior should be based on mercy. We
should behave politely and nicely with each
other.

• Someone as Hazrat Aisha (R.A) about the Holy


Prophet (P.B.U.H) life at home. She replied that
he did household work. He mended clothes and
shoes, milked the goats and swept the house. He
shared and ate his meals with the slaves and the
poor. He sat with the needy and the destitute in
such a way that no one could tell the difference
between him and poor people. When he went to
an assembly, he sat wherever he found place.
