Glossary

1. Behaviourism - the theory that all human behaviour is learnt by adapting to


outside conditions and that learning is not influenced by thoughts and feelings.

2. Brainwashing - the activity of forcing somebody to accept your ideas or beliefs,


for example by repeating the same thing many times or by preventing the person
from thinking clearly.

3. Contemporary Worship - is a form of Christian worship that emerged within


Western evangelical Protestantism in the 20th century.

4. Courtesy - polite behaviour, or a polite action or remark.

5. Lectionary - is a book or listing that contains a collection of scripture readings


appointed for Christian or Judaic worship on a given day or occasion.

6.Localism - the idea that people should have control over what happens in their
local area, that local businesses should be supported, and that differences between
places should be respected.

7. New Testament - is the second division of the Christian biblical canon.

8.Preach- to give unwanted advice, especially about moral matters, in a boring


way.

9. Proclamation- an official statement about something important that is made to


the public; the act of making an official statement.

10. Profundity - the quality of showing a clear and deep understanding of serious
matters.

11. Rebuke - the act of speaking angrily to someone because you disapprove of
what they have said or done, or the things that someone says to show disapproval.

12. Sparse- existing only in small amounts over a large area.

13. Spectrum - a range of different positions, opinions, etc. between two extreme
points.

14. Stewardship - is a theological belief that humans are responsible for the world,
and should take care and look after it.

15. Sustain - to cause or allow something to continue for a period of time.


16.Welfare - help given, especially by the state or an organization, to people who
need it, especially because they do not have enough money.
