CORE CONCEPT & TARGET AUDIENCE
CommuSim is an application that consists a simulation for people that are introverts, afraid of talking with
strangers, or lack of communication experience. This simulation can help them to improve their communication
skills besides gaining more experience in communication

In reality, there are many people that facing the same problems. They’re afraid or don’t know how to communicate
with strangers like at the mall, tourists place, or in some streets. For example, if they wants to find something like a
restaurant or a shop, they will having a hard time to find it and might even get lost but too afraid to ask any help
from strangers, this will only give them a really hard time.

The target audience are for teenagers, and adults that have this kind of fear or wants to gain experience in
communication skills.

technical or social skills.

Old-school methods of training are based on theory, but they fail to be successful in many situations, especially
for pragmatic people who are used to learning through experience.

Job interviews can be perceived as a burden by many people, especially by young graduates who lack experience
or social skills.

SOLUTION
The aim is to experience the problems that people may face in real life in a virtual environment. Thus, individuals
make fewer mistakes in real life, because, they gain experience against the problems they may encounter in real
life via using virtual environment [10].
Ulas Gulec, Murat Yilmaz, Veysi Isler, & Rory V. O’Connor (2018). Adopting Virtual Reality as a Medium for Software
Development Process Education, page 1.

It offers a platform for people to experience situations with no risk for themselves or others, and it allows users to
experience phenomena to which there is a limited or no access in the real world (Freina & Ott, 2015; Shin, 2017). VR
is typically referred to as a high-end user interface involving real-time simulation of an environment that people
can explore and interact with through multiple senses (Burdea & Coiffet, 1994; Lee & Wong, 2014).

NOVELTY
This simulation centres on helping the users gain more experience in communication or even help them to
overcome their fear of talking with strangers. This app will help the users to use the right sentences, how to
approach, and at the same time having some manners while communicating. They will face some problems in the
simulation like the strangers that they approach can’t speak their language or ignore them like how in the reality
can be. From there, they can learn how to overcome the situation little by little.

It has been proven that VR simulation that is close to reality can help ones to improve their skills and gain more
experiences. This app can help those who needed improve their communication skills and gain some experiences
from it.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCES ABOUT IT?

There are many VR application in the market these days that are focus to communication skills. But most of them
mainly about interviews, public speaking, or businesses. CommuSim focus more on our daily life.

CommuSim will be having a features where in the simulation, the users will have to complete some task (going to
the store or restaurant). At some point, the users visual will be more and more blurry except strangers that are
passing by in his/her surrounding. The users will have to approach a strangers to ask for help and engaging a
conversation to make the path more clear. This features is the core competitive advantages for this apps in order
to make it more interesting for users rather than just a simple simulation.

This features duplicates a real life situation where ones gets lost and have no other choices but to ask for a
strangers help. They can gain experience on how to handle this kind of situation.
